Detective Eric Johnson was head of the local police department. He and his wife had moved to the sleepy little seaside town after their youngest daughter, Erica, started college. He had worked for the NYPD for twenty years, and thought the town would be an ideal place to spend his remaining years with the police force. That was until he started getting enindated with calls about on possible supernatural accurances, mainly having to do with the legendary manor."I gotta get out of this nutty town.", he thought as he was eating his lunch in the city park. All of a sudden he heard a young woman screaming.
"TODD!", she screamed."TODD! OH GOD HELP HIM! PLEASE! SOMEONE CALL 911! HELP!"
He looked up, and saw the young woman screaming and crying for help. She looked about the same age as his youngest daughter. He quickly ran over to see what was happening. As he got to the girl, he looked in horror at the young man lying dead in front of him.
"This is Detectie Johnson.", he said on cell phone, "I need a bus sent to the city park on Main Street. No, this one is D.O.A. Sarah then looked up at the detective, and began to scream an cry.
"No!", she cried, "Todd, he can't be. The detective the grabbed her, and held her tight.
"I'm sorry sweetheart.", he said solemnly, "There nothing we can do, he's gone. What is your name?"
"S-Sarah, Sarah Gilmore.", she replied.
"Gilmore?", he asked, "Are you related to the mayor?"
"He's my uncle.", she told him, "And that's Todd his brother-in-law."
"Listen Sarah, listen sweetie.", he told her in a calming voice, "You need to breath, slowly. You are starting to hyperventilate. Calm down, you don't want to go into shock. Why don't we go sit down, and we won't look at this anymore. You need to relax, and calm down. Is their anyone you want me to call?" Sarah looked at him with tears in her eyes, and nodded.
"Yes, my dad.", she replied.
"Do you have the number?", he asked.
'It's in the contact information on my phone.", she told him. The detectie found the number, and proceeded to call Robert.
"Sarah!", they heard a man's voice cry. As they both looked over, they saw Jonathan running towards them. Sarah the ran over to him, and threw her arms a around him.
"Oh Uncle Jon!", she cried, "I don't know what happened. We were laughing, and having a good time. Then all of a sudden, I don't know, it was horrible. I've never watched a person die before."
"Mayor Gilmore, I'm sorry about you wife's brother.", said the detective.
"Damn!", said Jonathan, "Why did this have to happen?"
"You know why!", a middle aged woman yelled from the crowd, "It was her! The manor killed him because it wants her! And it will kill til it get's her. I know, I'm a medium, and an empath. I can sense both benevolent, and malevolent spirts. I wouldn't get too close to her detective, it may mistake your kind gestures as an attraction for her. Then you will suffer the same fate as the young man laying before us. I'm warning every man to stay away from her, for she is now the angel of death!"
"I'm not in the mood for any ghost nonsense today!", he scolded her,"A young man is dead, and a young girl is terrified! I don't need anyone to start insisting a riot! He then looked at the body laid out before him.
"This can't be natural causes.", he thought.
"Sarah, what did you do before you guys walked in the park?", he asked.
"We ate lunch at that burger place over there.", she replied.
"Okay, I'll question the employees.", said Detective Johnson.
"You don't think this was a murder, do you?", asked Jonathan.
"I don't know what to think.", replied the detective, "All I know is that the manner, of which this young man died, needs to be fully investigated. By the way Mayor Gilmore, how did you know to come here?'
"I didn't.", replied Jonathan, "I-I just happene to be walking by, an saw you with Sarah. I also noticed Todd's body lying on the ground." The detective suspected he was lying, but he didn't have any proof.
"Sarah if you remember anything else, or if you need help, here's my card. I want you to call me, especially if you think you're in danger."
"Thank you.", she replied. She looked at him with a sorrowful smile, tears were still building up in her eyes. The detective couldn't shake the feeling that she might be in some kind of danger. But he left Sarah with her uncle, and headed for the the burger place to start his investigation.
"I'm going to take you home Sarah.", he told her, "I think it would be better for everyone, if I took you where you belong."
"But Detective Johnson called Daddy, and told him to meet me here.", she replied.
"Don't worry, I'll let your father know that you are going to be where you belong.", he told her. She agreed, but little did she know that home he was referring to was the manor. He began to walk with her to his car."
"Sarah, Jonathan!", a voice cried. They both turned around, and saw Robert running towards them."
"Damn!", thought Jonathan. Sarah began to cry, ran to her father, and threw her arms around him.
"Daddy!", she cried, "Daddy it was awful. Todd, and I, were having a nice time, and then all of a sudden he just died the most horrible death. It was awful Daddy. A nice detective, the one that called you, heard me scream for help. He then comforted me until Uncle Jon showed up, Uncle Jon then offered me a ride home."
"Well, I'm here now.", said Robert, "I can take her home."
"Sarah, did Todd by any chance try and kiss you?", asked Jonathan.
"Gees! Jonathan!" Yelled Robert, "The poorman is dead, give him a break!"
"I just meant-oh never mind.", said Jonathan. Robert looked at him, trying ro figure out what was going on with his brother. Robert, and Sarah then walked towards Robert's car.
"Daddy.", Sarah began, There was something else."
"What was it princess?", asked Robert, "You know you can tell me anything."
"Daddy, I thought I heard, oh never mind.", she said, "It's just my mind playing tricks on me."
"Well, if you decide it wasn't just all in your head.", he told, "Please feel free to come talk to me." He put his arm around her, and she leaned her head on his shoulder. They then got in the car, and Robert drove towards Jonathan's. All of a sudden, Sarah became tired. She quickly dozed of in the car. She knew she was asleep, and she knew she was dreaming. However she was totally aware of her situation. She looked around, and saw nothing but darkness. She became terrified.
"Where am I?", she called out, "Why am I here?"
"Because I brought you here!", the husky male voice answered. A dark figure appeared, and slowly began to walk towards her. She became more, and more terrified. The closer he got towards her, the clearer his image became. She looked up at him, afraid of the man approaching her. She was scared that an evil looking demon was coming towards her. To her surprise however, he was probably the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Even so, she was still afraid to be in his presence.
"Who, who, are you she asked?", she asked while her body began to tremble with fear. He gazed upon her, with a loving smile, and then gently rubbed the back of his fingers down her cheek.
"Don't be afraid Sarah, you alreay know who I am", he told her, "I am Michael, Michael Winworth, your fiancé."
