Reconciliation

Annabeth POV

Annabeth's jaw dropped. "Poseidon was the original Captain America?" She gasped.

"PLOT TWIST!" Tony yelled. 

Percy nodded. "Yes."

Peter let out a big breath. "So let me get this straight: your father, the god of the seas, was the original Captain America. We Avengers emerged, so the Olympians had you pose as Captain America to investigate us, and you're a Greek demigod."

Percy grinned. "You're catching on quickly!"

There was a long silence where everyone just stared at each other.

"So, where do we go from here?" Tony asked. "What's the plan?"

Percy looked baffled, like he'd never thought about that. Being the Seaweed Brain as he was, he probably hadn't. "I don't know...the gods still want me to help you guys out, so I guess I'll do that, if it's okay with you?"

The Avengers traded glances and came to an unspoken consensus.

"While we're upset that you lied to us," Natasha began, "You've been a good friend and we'd be honored to continue to fight by your side."

Percy's face stretched into a slow smile. "Maybe this time, I can use my powers!"

"Powers?" Clint asked. "What powers?"

Annabeth raised her eyebrow. "What, you didn't think Percy had powers?"

"Well I'd guess being a demigod accounts for the 'supersoldier' strength, but I-" Tony began.

"Many demigods have powers or enhanced abilities," Annabeth explained. "Athena kids are smarter, Ares kids are stronger. Hephaestus kids are good with machines, Zeus kids can control lightning and sometime fly. It depends on how much of their parent's domain a demigod can control." She jerked her head towards Percy. "He's able to handle pretty much all of his father's domain. Percy can control water, marine animals, horses, natural disasters...he's powerful."

"You don't say," Thor scoffed.

Percy blushed and shifted in his wheelchair. "Thanks, I guess."

"Well, the more firepower on our side, the better," Peter said, clapping Percy on the shoulder. The rest of the team nodded.

Percy grinned, but his eyes fluttered in exhaustion.

Bruce noticed. "We should let Percy heal, guys," he suggested. The Avengers nodded and walked towards the door. "We'll head back to the tower now. You join us whenever you're up to it, Steve. I mean, Percy." He paused and then turned back around. "Percy?"

Percy was snoring in his chair. Annabeth covered her mouth to stifle a laugh.

Natash sighed on her way out the door. "This is going to be one hell of a thing to explain to Fury," she moaned.
