Percy's stomach rolled uneasily as the jet soared towards Wakanda. Even though Zeus himself had directed Percy to join the Avengers, he still felt uneasy being up in the god's domain. At least he was not in space like Tony, Peter, and Doctor Strange. He was worried about them, though. Of course he did not think himself to be the only skilled Avenger, but he would have preferred to be with all of his friends. Even though he was not almighty, it relaxed him to be fighting near them, yet they were half a universe away--or so he supposed. No one knew where they were, but Percy just had to pray that they were keeping the Time Stone away from Thanos.
Hopefully the titan had not obtained any of the other Stones.
They soared over the dense trees of Africa. Percy scanned the horizon, looking for Wakanda. Natasha had filled him in on the not-so-secret-anymore territory built upon tons of vibranium. Apparently they were more technologically advanced than S.H.I.E.L.D., but all that Percy saw was trees.
Suddenly, the fabric of reality bended around them as they broke through what seemed to be some type of barrier. The boundary was not unlike that around Camp Half Blood. On the other side, Percy saw the kingdom he'd heard about. Tall structures glinted in the sunlight, made of a metal he did not recognize and was clearly this legendary vibranium.
The ship lurched to the side, and Percy had to grab onto Sam's seat for balance. The others looked confused as they struggled for handholds.
"What's going on?" Percy demanded urgently as lights began flashing on the control panel.
Natasha's hands flew over the board. "Landing gears are busted, and two of the blasters are out."
"How? We were fine flying!" Banner yelled from the back, stumbling as the jet rolled again.
Sam shook his head. "We must have taken hits from the Black Order in Scotland."
"We can't land this thing," Natasha murmured.
"You want to crash it?" Sam asked, tightening his buckles.
Percy stepped backwards. "Yes. Take us into the water, Nat."
Her head snapped around, blonde hair whipping. "Are you serious? All of our landing equipment is shot, I just told you that. We can't land it."
"We have to," Percy objected, throwing open the hatch in the top of the jet. "Set us into a steady descent, and I will take care of the landing."
Before anyone could object, Percy pulled himself through the hatch, landing on top of the jet. He held his arms out for steadiness as the ship pitched through the air. Miles ahead, Wakanda glittered in its metallic glory. But below, he assessed as he ran forward towards the front of the ship, below glittered a watery refuge.
He stood at the head of the ship, in front of the cockpit where the Avengers stared at him from behind the glass. Percy turned away from them, concentrating. He closed his eyes, focusing on his connection to the huge lake below.
He raised his arms, and the water soared up with him. Faintly, he could hear the Avengers crying out in alarm from inside the ship as thousands of gallons of water shot upwards in an explosion of force. Too much. Percy willed the force to lessen to a survivable amount--he had to remember that some of his friends were human, and thus, quite breakable.
The water engulfed the ship, and Percy used his power to cushion its rapid descent. It was still racing for the coastline, and Percy knew an impact like this would create a tsunami large enough to kill hundreds. He fell to a knee, gritting his teeth and arms splayed wide as he held the force of the water. He pulled the front of the current back, trying to slow their descent. The strain was intense, but he was able to slow their approach.
