I approached the bathroom once more as Gavin walked out and almost ran into me. He glances at me and then the floor, saying, "Jesus fucking Christ toaster you scared me." I know that his heart rate is accelerated for a completely different reason, but I decide to not say anything.
"Anyway, where is the deviant?" Gavin cleared his throat slightly, trying to get thoughts of straight up making out with the android out of his head before he did something stupid. He looked back up at the android and noticed the odd blue color in his face. "Nines... why is your face blue?" The android visibly tenses, and says, "What do you mean detective?"
I hadn't realized that I was ever able to end up changing my appearance as a subconscious affect of something, more specifically able to - what was it again? - blush like a human being would if flustered. I clear my throat before Gavin can answer, and I say, "Nevermind that, we have a deviant to find." I turn around and try to walk down the hallway at a normal pace, but I start to realize that my software's instability is starting to affect me subconsciously, considering I'm walking much faster than I mean to.
Gavin wonders what's on the android's mind as he walks away faster than normal, but he follows him anyway. He follows Nines out a back door, which leads directly to a chain link fence, and the android looks at the deviant and the girl through it, thinking about the best way to approach this as the two start running across a highway.
I move to climb the fence but Gavin grabs my arm without any hesitation and says, "What the fuck do you think you're doing toaster?! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" I hesitate before deciding to remain on this side of the fence, watching as Kara and the girl, Alice, make it to the other side of the highway safely. I feel my software become more unstable and I look at Gavin, who looked surprised that I actually listened to him.
I could tell Amanda wouldn't appreciate my decisions but for a moment I didn't care when a mission statement appeared to my right saying "Mission FAILED" while I locked eyes with Gavin.
Several thoughts flooded Gavin's mind as Nines looked at him, mostly involving kissing the android, a few involving saying the android should go get a drink with him. He decides the latter would be a smarter idea. "Let's go get a drink Nines." He starts to walk away and can tell that the android is about to protest but he says, "That's an order dipshit."
