—————————-Jax POV—————————-
I shake my head and rub my eyes as she walks away. She has a body of a goddess. I puff on this Dutch master and watch her struggle for some signal. She's truly mesmerizing.
"That's some piece of ass." I breathe in and exhale loudly.
"She wouldn't want you Clay. Ma? Remember?" I growl. His glare says everything but the words still roll off of his tongue poisonously.
"Don't you think that's for her to decide, Jaxie?" He clasps my shoulders playfully as he strides near her, acting as if he's checking his bike.
I sigh.
Still on the phone, she looks irritated, and almost worried. I walk over to her, saving her from Clay's shenanigans.
—————————Tessa POV———————-
I hang up with Dexter. That's it. He's coming to Charming.
Tonight.
Fuck. What am I going to do? Dexter and I, as I've said, do not really get along well. We butt heads, bicker like teenagers, and always think the opposite of what the other is thinking. Do you understand how frustrating that is? He is one of the most unreasonable beings I have ever met in my damn life. He makes MY life hard.
I pick out a cigarette from my purse, lighting it quickly and savoring the nicotine rush of fast rapid pulls. I breathe in and close my eyes and take in the blazing California sun, it feels wonderful.
"You enjoyin' yourself?" Jax smiles and looks down at me with sincere eyes. I smile back.
"Of course I am. Everyday is dangerous when I'm with you. It's kinda my thing, if you haven't noticed." I put my hand up, curl my middle fingers in, tuck my thumb, and point my pinky and index fingers towards the sun mimicking devil horns. "You know it's going to be a crazy night."
Jax smiles wide at me, piercing eyes and mocks my devil horns. This is what life is all about. "Oh, you know, damn well, that every night with me is a crazy night. You know how me and the gang roll. It's wonderful to finally be with someone that understands the thrill of danger, life or death situations, just to feel alive." He looks down almost anxiously.
"You know I'll do whatever you want to make you feel alive. Don't worry, Jax. I'm someone that keeps my word." I smile softly at him, looking up to meet his eyes. He grabs my hands, holds them up to meet his lips and kisses the back and palms of my hands. I sigh in comfort. It's been so long that I have felt a caring touch, from anyone.
"Sometimes I swear, you're god-sent," I start. "You have been nothing but a dream since I've been here---it goes not without recognition, I am so grateful. I was such a dick to you the first day, but something about your---" Clay walks up and interrupts. "Get a room, you two," He chuckles and playful nudges back. Jax shrugs off Clay, smiles lightly at him and looks back at me, eyes full of guilt.
"I'm sorry, gorgeous, Clay doesn't really care for manners. Never has, never will." he smiles and intertwines his fingers in mine. "As you were saying?" he asks, bright eyes.
"Something about your aura, Jax, its invigorating, intoxicating, so mysterious about you. It has drew me in already, I can't imagine--" I stop myself before I go any further, biting my lip in shame.
I look down nervously.
'Don't say too much,' I scold myself in my head.
'A man knows how much you care—they use it against you Tessa, every time. It's not a lesson if you don't learn.'I nod in agreement with myself.
It's true, you know? You let a man in, and for me, it's always ended badly. Life-threatening sometimes. I also take into consideration that my peace and thrill is only going to come to a short end soon. Tonight, in fact.
I inhale deeply and look at Jax with sincere eyes. He has no idea what is to come. He has no idea the fun-sucker that OCD ridden control freak Dexter is.
———————————Jax POV———————————-
I look down at her, as she's looking down at her feet. Something about her personality, the way she flips her hair and the way she can hang with us. All of my life, I have lost the women that have meant most to me, due to what this club does to anyone it touches---it kills them, but her--she's so different. I have felt invincible, but I have never thought someone other than myself is invincible. She can handle her weight, carry herself in such a graceful manner, but still is very rough around the edges. She reminds me of myself, and I chuckle, thinking of us taking over the world together. I have never believed in such bullshit as 'love at first sight', or 'feeling sparks,' or even the 'electricity and chemistry' feelings. It's such horse shit, you know? I took one look at her, though, and damn, my heart started pounding, my face got hot....It was bullshit. I've never done that. I chuckle to myself again, but this time she looks up at me.
"What's so funny?" She smiles, and in that moment, she is perfect. What the fuck is wrong with me?
"Nothing sweetheart, just laughing at the thoughts in my head. They can get a little crazy, you know?" I laugh again and take her hands, savoring the feeling of her skin on mine.
It's been a while since I felt this way. The carelessness, the somber talks in the dark and sharing every memory that comes to mind with ease. It's scary. I pull back my hands a bit and draw back, cowering at my own thoughts of getting close to someone else. She looks at me with concern.
"Are you okay, Jax?" She says in an angelic tone.
"I'm just in my head, as usual," I add.
"Well, Jax Teller, Sons Of Anarchy," she giggles through her tongue and breaks out in laughter as she goes on.
"YOU need to relax! Why's a man like you got so many worries anyways?"
I laugh hard and quick for a second, almost mockingly. I tense up.
I raise my eyebrows and look down. I look up with a smirk, turning my head slightly to the side and I take her hands in mine. "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me." I laugh hard.
She surprises me, though. She looks down at my hands, puts them on her lower back near the pockets of her jeans. She leans in, brushing her lips against mine and smiles teasingly.
"Try me," she whispers.
My body breaks out in chills. What is she doing to me?
