The next few days fell into a routine of us helping with my siblings and staying with Derrick at night. We both have grown closer to one another because of this. We have time to ourselves and to talk about each other. We have both looked forward to our evenings together. Everything seems to be getting better with everyone. Derrick and I have been discussing with Bloodstone about where we should take everyone after they are fully healed, which will be in a couple days now.
Derrick and I are worried about Iris after what happened the first night she woke. She has not been responding to us like everyone else, and Cassandra still has her guard up around her. She does not want me to speak of anything around her or where she can hear. We have two guards with her at all times due to this feeling she has. Over the past couple of days, a few of my siblings have also stated their concerns about her. Theo and Claus, two of my brothers, have told me that she was helping the witch before they turned on her because the rest of them would not help. They do not understand what they were trying to get but they believe they want to take my powers. The witches thought they could harvest all of their powers to achieve this but no one was giving their powers to them willingly and that is when they turned.
"They knew if we were all in trouble She would send you to help us," Theo said. "We tried to fight them but we are not as powerful as you Hailey."
Everyone keeps reminding how powerful I am but I do not see it. We have been stuck when it comes to my powers for the last week. Derrick and I have tried practicing my fire and wind powers, but it is not working. I can get a flame started and make it bigger, but when it comes to putting it out, well... we will just say it hasn't been easy. As for wind, that usually comes after I get angry about not being able to put the fire out, which makes things even worse.
"Let's take a break today from training," Derrick says which startles me. I did not hear him walking towards me in the front yard. Being a werewolf you would think I would have heard him coming, but I have been caught up in my own thoughts that I did not hear or see anyone around me. Derrick notices that he startled me," we should go somewhere today, just the two of us and let you relax."
Looking back at the house, "I don't think we can. There is so much going on and I need to train if someone or something is really coming after us all," I say. Taking a deep breath I turn to look at him, he knows what I said is true, but there is something in his eyes that tells me he is truly worried about me.
"You need to take a break Hailey," he says. "No one will think any less of you for doing so, and honestly we need some time to each other as well." I blush, but smile because he is right. We have not had much time to ourselves in the last few days, hell even the last few weeks since meeting each other.
I nod. That is all I can do. I know that Derrick will not stop until I take a break, hell he would kidnap me to get me away from here if he had too. He knows how much more training me need, but he also knows that I am stressed about everything right now and I need to get away from it all. Some times that is hard to do, especially when everyone is looking at you to keep the witches away and destroying all of the werewolves. No pressure at all!
"Great," Derrick says, a little too cheerful for me. Either he had this planned or, "I have everything packed for us for the night and will come back in the morning," he says. Yup he had it planned.
"OK," I say giving him a sideways look. I'm not sure what he is planning for tonight, and that makes me a little uneasy. I mean everyone will know that we are going to be a lone, all night, together.
"It will be OK Hailey," he says while cupping his hands around my face. "No one has to know a thing. Well they all know that you and I are going away for the evening and that is it. What-ever conclusion they come up with is their own." He makes it sound so simple, but I am nervous, and he knows it.
