On our way to my room, Shelia decided to show me around the pack house. Leaving Alpha James office we went right back into the living room area. Most of the teenagers were not paying much attention to us while playing Madden '17 on the Xbox One S, I can see they keep up to date on all electronics. It wasn't until Shelia was telling all their names that they turned to say hello. We went into the dining hall, I say hall because it is a large room with about 15 tables throughout with chairs to feed all members of the pack.
"We all eat dinner together, no matter what is going on James wants us to have at least one meal together every day," Shelia tells me.
"That is wonderful. We never did that at my old pack. Families would eat together or during BBQ's we would all eat together, but the older we all became the less events we had," I told her.
"That is horrible! How can that Alpha get everyone to unite if he doesn't have everyone together?" She stated. "Idiots, that is what they are. Just idiots, but don't you worry, we are all family and we NEVER turn our backs on each other."
"That is awesome. I am liking this pack more and more," I smiled at Shelia. I loved that the pack is a family and not individual families, like your parents and siblings are one family in the pack. Personally, I felt we needed to become one again to make our pack stronger, but what would I know as a worthless human, at least that is what they all thought.
"Through these doors is the kitchen, we all take turns cooking for everyone. Some of us are better cooks than the others, but we all try," she states then starts to laugh uncontrollably. I give her a questioning look.
"We had one young male wolf that almost caught the whole kitchen on fire trying to boil water! He is the ONLY one not allowed to be in the kitchen. He still hasn't lived that moment down and it has been three years!" she tells me. I laugh with her, I mean come on how can you catch the kitchen on fire from boiling water.
"Anyways," she says wiping a tear from her cheek," lets continue shall we." I nod.
Through the kitchen is another hallway that has the laundry room, pantry, and the stairs to the upper levels, all the bedrooms are up there. The second floor is for all the teenagers, it is divided in two sides. The stairs is the divider and the unmated wolves are not allowed to spend the night with anyone of the other sex. The pack believes in waiting till you find your mate before having sexual relationships with anyone. "You should only have one partner in your life, your mate," Shelia told me.
"I agree," I said to her. "Most of the wolves in my old pack did not wait for their mate. They said 'practice makes perfect' or something like that."
"WHAT?! That is disgusting and.....and.....and I don't know. Please don't listen to them Hailey. You are better than those losers, ok?" She said.
"Ok."
"Your room will be on the third floor, that is where the older unmated wolves stay."
"Ok. That sounds perfect for me." I tried to sound excited for being around all the unmated males, but the truth is I am not ready to meet my mate yet. I just found my wolf and I want to learn as much as I can and find myself before I give my life to someone else. Hopefully my mate is not in this pack.
After arriving on the third floor, we turn left and down the hallway till we reach the fifth door. Shelia opens the door and says, "Welcome to your new home, well bedroom at least."
I smile at her as I walk past her. I stop in my tracks as I look around the room. It is huge! All the walls are a pale pink color with floral print in white but on one wall that has the queen size bed, it is a light grey color with pink floral print on it. The bed is pink and grey as well, but what gets my attention is the bay window on the far wall. The view of the waterfall and forest is amazing from this room. I could stare out this window all day long.
"James wanted you to have this room. It has the best view on this floor. Do you like it? We can change the colors if you don't like it," she asks.
"I love it. Thank you so much for this. It is too much. I can have a smaller room, honestly. But I love the view and the colors," I tell her with a huge smile on my face. She is smiling with me. Shelia gives me a hug and tells me to get settled in for a few hours.
"Dinner is at 6 PM sharp. DO NOT be late," she tells me pointing her index finger at me like my mother used to do.
"I won't," I state with a smile. After she leaves I notice the two doors on the right side of the bedroom. The one closes to the window is the bathroom, it is large as well. Separate shower/tub and a large vanity. The closet is a walk-in closet that is a U shape with a bench in the center. I just want to pinch myself at how much they have given me already. My old room was never this nice or big and when I asked my parents to redecorate my room last year I was told no because it wasn't needed and I wasn't old enough to have a more 'grown up room'.
I decided to take a little nap before dinner It was only 4 PM and I had two hours before then. I set my alarm to give me 30 minutes to shower and change before dinner. The bed was like laying on a cloud. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
I jumped up at the sound of my alarm. I groan at myself but then I remember what Shelia told me about how important dinner is here at this pack. I jump out of bed and run into the shower, there are towels laying on the tub for me but I decided to take a quick shower. I am thankful that the bathrooms are fully stock for all females with everything you can possibly need while showering.
As I am drying off I grab a new change of clothes to wear, hopefully the alpha won't introduce me to everyone tonight, but I have a feeling he will. I hear my phone start ringing. "Who is calling me," I ask to myself.
I almost dropped my phone when I see it is my parents house number calling me. Do I answer or not answer? "Just answer it and tell them you are safe and sound then hang up. Don't give them anything else," says Cassandra.
"Ok."
"Hello?"
"Hailey, is that you?" my dad asks.
"Yes." I don't want to say anything else.
"Where are you? You need to come back home right now! You are in no state to be traveling alone. You could get killed," he states.
I laugh at him, "Oh now you care about me, huh? No, I am not coming back. Better yet, I will NEVER come back to that hell hole you call a home or family. You are nothing to me now. When I needed you to be a father and protect me from the pack you turned your back on ME. So I will keep going to wherever I am going and live my life how I want to live it. So you can tell everyone I said to GO TO HELL!" I hang up before he can say anything. I also turn off my phone because I don't want to here from any of them. I might ask Alpha James for a new phone that way they can never contact me again.
After taking a few deep breaths to calm my nerves, my hands are shaking and I can not go to dinner like this. After a few minutes my heart rate has returned to normal and my mood has returned to somewhat happiness. I decided it was time to face the crowd. Dinner here I come.
