The first Boyfriend

Episodically I recall your face.
Your cold smile,
fulfilled with warmth
across your lips.
Your dark eyes,
with pain imbedded to your hips.

I placed my gaze upon you,
On a blazing August day.
Your skin abused by your own hands.
How could you hurt me in this way?

I didn't need your name
To feel the pain
Your body framed

In my eyes you were an emotional zoo
I believed I could save you.

I was wrong.

Instead of you taking my hand in yours
You took my heart and encased it.
Encased within the first
I
Love
You.
