An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
He said sorry
But will that mean anything,
With your next abrasion? An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
Your boss apologizes
but when was your last vacation? An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
Your boyfriend hits you again
He says there will never be another altercation. An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
Your parents are sorry they weren't there,
Now even your doctor is pacing. An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
The cops are asking questions,
"What race is he,"
Her mother answers, "Caucasian."An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
You finally awake,
Your bruises pain his manipulation,
To yourself you whisper "I'm sorry."An apology without change,
Is just manipulation.
What eventually helped you change?
Was it his invasion? This apology began your change,
Allowing you to see his manipulation.
You're able to recover,
This final choice allowing you to be complacent.
