"Hi there, what's your name?" I kneel down in front of the little girl, blocking her vision of Lachlan's dead body.

"Sage." She says softly, her big blue eyes staring up into mine as she clutches the bear tightly to her chest.

"Okay, Sage," I murmur, looking back at Lachlan once before back at her. "Your dad is just taking a nap, okay? Now, how about you go and play with your toys."

I smile softly at her and she nods, turning around and skipping back to what I assume is her room.

I let out a sigh of relief and shut my eyes momentarily before taking my phone out- looking through my contacts and clicking on JJ's name.

"Simon? Are you okay?" His voice sounds rushed and panicked, I just sigh and sit back against the wall- leaning my head against it.

"I fucked up, and I mean really badly." I whisper, closing my eyes again and sighing heavily- hearing him sigh on the other end.

"Where are you?"

"Holy shit." JJ breathes out as he steps next to me in the doorway, his eyes locked on Lachlan's dead body and the pool of blood surrounding him.

"It gets worse." I murmur, grabbing a blanket and draping it over his body before walking to Sage's room- knocking softly on her door.

"Sage? Can you come here?" I murmur as I open the door and she nods, standing up slowly and walking over to me- her small hand wrapping around my finger.

I smile softly at her before walking with her out to where JJ stands, his face dropping.

"Oh fuck." He states before laughing quietly, carefully stepping over the covered body blocking half the hallway and kneeling down in front of her.

"What's her name?" JJ looks up at me and I go to tell him, but she speaks up before I can.

"My name is Sage Power." She says confidently, smiling up at JJ as she lets go of my finger.

"That's a very pretty name." He smiles and I smile slightly at his tone, he seems to be a natural with kids.

"Where's my daddy?" She frowns suddenly and I sigh, kneeling down next to JJ and grabbing her hand- making her turn her head to look at me.

"Sage, do you have any idea where your mum is?" I ask softly and she nods, a sigh of relief leaving both JJ and I.

"She lives in the mitten shaped place." She says simply and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion- looking at JJ too see him also looking confused before realization hits the both of us.

"Your mum lives in Michigan?" I sigh, trying my best not to seem annoyed but not being able to help it- tired of all the setbacks.

She just nods and I bite my lip, looking over at again JJ just to have his eyes meet mine- both of us exchanging a look before he speaks up.

"Well, we'll bring you to her." JJ nods and I sigh, nodding along with him anyway as she smiles widely.

"Really?" She asks and JJ smiles, nodding again- his eyes widening in surprise when she lunges forward to hug him tightly.

He just laughs quietly and wraps his arms back around her small frame, her chin resting on his shoulder before she hums out in confusion.

"What's that in the middle of the floor?" She asks and pulls away from JJ's grasp, going to walk over to it- but I'm too quick.

I quickly scoop her up in my arms, the sudden movement making her giggle as I tickle her sides- trying to distract her.

"What do you say we go on an adventure, yeah?" I ask and she nods, smiling happily as I hold her on my hip.
