"We're running low on money, with both the cars and the hotel expenses we don't have enough to make it to Los Angeles." I sigh as I look at the papers laid out in front of me- a stack of money on each with only a few hundred left over.
"Well that's no problem." JJ shrugs and I look up at him, noticing him wiping down one of his guns with a cloth before reloading it with bullets.
"Yeah? What do you suggest we do then, Mr. Know It All." I say in a sarcastic tone and roll my eyes- already annoyed since I barely got any sleep last night, too busy overthinking about everything.
"You're cute when you're annoyed, you know?" I just scoff at JJ's playful smile, looking away from him and trying to hide the obvious blush on my cheeks.
"Shut up." I huff, grabbing my knife from the table and turning it over in my hand, running my pointer finger over the sharp edge.
He just giggles and shakes his head at me, a fond smile across his face as he grabs another gun.
"JJ, someone's here for you." Both of us turn our heads at Deji's voice- a gun in his hand as he pulls back the blinds to looks out the window.
"How do you know it's for me?" JJ asks and Deji gives him a knowing look- the two of them staring at each other for a second before JJ gulps, turning to look back at me.
"Excuse me." He murmurs, setting his gun down and sighing heavily as he walks to the door.
I just frown as he sets down his gun- usually he takes it with him wherever he goes.
I crane my neck to try and see who's at the door but it's to no avail, all I can hear is a female's voice.
From what I can tell, the conversation isn't nice- more like passive aggressive between the two of them.
Suddenly the door is slammed open all the way, making Deji and I jump slightly.
The girl looks over at me once before back at JJ, starting to yell at him in a language I don't understand.
I don't think anything of it, maybe she's just a cousin or long lost sister- so I shrug it off.
A couple minutes later I get tired of the yelling and stand up- going to leave the room but being stopped as I hear her talking in English, turning to look at her.
"You ruined my life!" She says in a heavy accent and points at me before shoving JJ back, storming out of the house and JJ yelling something in a different language before slamming the door.
"Well, good to know I ruined the life of someone I don't even know." I giggle before looking up, seeing both Deji and JJ with serious expressions on their faces.
"What?" I laugh slightly before wiping the smile off my face- my knife still in my hand as I spin it around, the point pressing into my pointer finger.
"We need to talk." JJ murmurs, walking towards me and grabbing my forearm- holding on tightly as he pulls me into a separate room, closing the door behind us.
"Okay, can you please explain what's going on here?" I sigh, tossing my knife up and catching it in my hand- repeating the action out of boredom as I wait for an answer.
"That was my girlfriend." He sighs and my heart immediately falls- a piece of me feeling like it had just been shattered.
"Your what?" I ask, hoping I had heard him wrong as I turn away from him- looking out the window.
"My girlfriend, well ex girlfriend now." He murmurs and I hear him sigh heavily- a small thump signalling he was leaning against the wall.
"Care to elaborate?" I ask in a pissed off tone, my blood starting to boil at the fact that this is the first I'm hearing of all this.
