Love and family

Klaus---

We all went to the waterfall this day again. Rebekkah gave Alex and Salma descent swim wear, while Elijah and I set up the picnic food.

Through out the day we swam around, my brother and I won the splash war, and the girls had to jump from the waterfall . We didn't make them jump nude, though I think they wouldn't of given us the same mercy if we would've lost.  Alexandra was smiling again, which I admit made me a bit happy.  I was glad we could make her smile. Salma and Rebekkah turned out to like eachother as well, which is surprising to me because she used to be uncomfortable around us. But now she's acting like there are no such thing's as witches and vampires,  only people.

"What are you thinking about? " Alexandra stood beside me, I didn't notice she was there.

"Nothing, I was just thinking of how nice everyone is getting along." I respond. "Especially Salma and Elijah"

"I've noticed, if Salma wasn't already with Calib, i think they would be pretty good together. " She looked at me. " Soooo, do you have anyone special Klaus?"

You can bet that question caught me off guard. I shifted uncomfortably and put my hand behind my neck. "I - um, no I guess not,  never really had."

"Never? you mean you never had a girlfriend???" She looked at me as if I was some sort of monk.

"Oh I had plenty yes,  but none of them were really something that I would consider special. Though I did feel something for someone once, not that long ago. "

"Who?"

"This girl I met once,  she was strong and full of life."

"Pretty?"

"As beautiful as an angel, if angels could even compare.  She made me feel different,  as if I could change who every one labelled me as."

"She sounds amazing,  what happened? "

"I couldn't love her, I couldn't be with her, I couldn't change for as much as I would want to for her, I let her go."  

We stood quiet for some time.

"Then I guess you didn't love her. "  she said.

"what?"

"She brought the good out of you right?  But you left because you couldn't be the good. You chose yourself over her, chose to be something that you don't even like being.  If you loved her you would of stayed, because if she loved you,  she would've accepted who you are. Till the end and further. "

"You don't know what you're talking about. " I said, if only she knew it was her.

"Well maybe I don't, I am just saying my opinion.  People love each other for everything they are,  including the faults.  That's just what I believe. "

"Tell me, have you actually seen this type of love?"

"Yes." she said sternly. 

"From a boy I am guessing. "

"No, from family.  I see it in yours."

Now this is new. "Tell me, what do you see that I cannot. "

"You think they don't love you, and judging on the distance you three put between yourselves,  I would see why. But they do, if they didn't they wouldn't be here right now with you. No one is forced to be with anyone, people choose to be in each others lives, and they've chosen to stay even if it is hell, you're they're brother and they love you."

I laugh a bit and she gives me a hard look.

" and maybe you could see it yourself,  if you'd stop pushing them away and actually listen to them."

I look her in the eyes, "You don't know this family. " and walk off back home.

"Not the way you do I guess," she whispers but I can hear her from the distance.
