Chapter Five

Bigby gets out his keys for his old apartment and puts them into the lock. The door swings open and a hot gust of air hits him. He closes the door behind him and puts his keys on the small table by the door.

"Damn pig... should've cracked a window," Bigby says, he walks over to a window and pushes it open.

Turning on the faucet Bigby splashes his face with the cold water. He turns off the faucet and leans over the counter and sighs, "what a night."

Bigby walks into the lounge room and sees the mess left by the new owner of his old apartment. "What a mess." Bigby sighs. He turns and sees Colin laying on the small, purple couch. Bigby pokes the pig, he turns to see the Sheriff.

"Hey Bigby," he says tiredly, "What's up?"

"Just checking up on you before I go home to the Mrs. It's been a long day and I'm tired," Bigby pulls out his box of matches, sticking one in his mouth and reaches for his lighter in his back pocket. This doesn't go unnoticed by Collin, as he looks up at Bigby.

"You got a smoke?" Ignoring him, Bigby pulls out his lighter and lights the cigarette. Bigby then walks over to Collin and places a cigarette in his mouth, he lights the cigarette and Collin takes a drag out of it. "Thanks. Couple thousand more of these, we'll be even on that house your wife owes me".

Bigby walks back towards the kitchen. "This has to stop. You can't keep sneaking of the Farm like this". Collin gets off the couch and follows him.

"The fresh air and sunshine pitch they sell you on is bullshit. I didn't escape out of the Homelands to end up in some prison, okay. Don't send me back there, Bigby". Bigby comes to a stop, reaching up in the cabinet for a glass to fill with water.

"Calm down. I'm not sending you back", Collin smiles at this. "Anyway, I've got to get home. (Y/N) has been working her ass off to get the apartment sorted. I'm starting to feel bad, you know?"

"Can't say I do know, I'm not married. Plus, this isn't even my apartment." He says. Bigby's mind shifts to his wife. Although (Y/N) says she doesn't mind, Bigby can't help but feel bad. His wife works just as hard as he does and when they go home he is able to rest while (Y/N) organises and move things to their new apartment. After saving for years, the Wolfs were finally able to afford a large place. Their old apartment could barely fit the two of them and when Colin fled from the Farm, the limited space got even more crowded. They managed to persuade the owner of the apartment complex to allow them not to pay the rent for the old one for as they are in the process of moving, however as they are the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff of Fable Town, the time they have available to move is very short. Bigby's attention is brought back to Colin.

"That for me?" the pig says hopefully.

"No." Bigby walks past him.

"The house didn't blow itself down, Bigby. That's all I'm saying. Do with that, what you will. Now I'm not saying it's reason enough for me to have been offered a drink, but uh... it would have helped ease some of the pain your lovely wife once caused me, yes? If (Y/N) was here I'm sure she would give me her drink. To show everyone how different she is now." Bigby hates how people treat him and his wife. Back in the Fable World they were wolves, of course they had to hunt and cause some havoc. They're WOLVES. This constant reminder of the things that they had done causes them to be looked upon like nothing but bad guys, when they don't get enough credit for catching the real bad guys in this town.

"If that was all you were saying, (Y/N) and I would be able to get some rest."

"I take it all back... this is why everyone hates you two." There it is again. Everyone hates them. Bigby turns to the pig.
