What is creepypasta? You ask. We tell! Long story short, creepypasta are those terrifying tidbits floating around the internet as a result of copying and pasting.

But there are a lot of scary things floating around the Internet. So what makes creepypasta unique?

To classify as creepypasta, the story must have originated online, it must be frightening, shareable, and it must seem believable.

Here's one such story:

A few months ago in Indonesia, haunting screenshots of "fake chats" went viral. What was the story behind them?

You allegedly receive a text message from someone you know. They ask you to meet up at the library, a classroom, or any place that you usually visit with that person . . . but at night.

When you get there, some time passes, and you realize this person probably isn't coming. While you're waiting, you hear sounds. Strange winds are blowing peculiar shadows through the trees. It makes you want to run straight home. You keep asking them where they are, but they don't answer. Or they don't answer anything that makes sense. . . .

You decide to leave. You will ask them about it in person first thing in the morning.

When you wake up, the conversation from your friend is gone. Then your friend contacts you with a new number, saying that they lost their phone last night.

Whoever contacted you definitely wasn't them. . . .
