Sherlock Holmes was not your usual 16 year old boy. He was incredibly smart, intuitive, kind and hardworking but also completely arrogant and an insufferable know-it-all. He spent his days performing 'experiments' in his room and finding new ways to irritate and out smart his older brother, Mycroft Holmes. He was often hunted down at school by bullies who would often tease him and beat him up, granted that this was mainly because he embarrassed them in class but this was only because they treated him badly on his first day. Sherlock had one friend, Miss Irene Adler, who he ate lunch with and sat next to in class, they weren't particularly close but Sherlock found that she was not a complete 'goldfish' (as Mycroft likes to call anyone who isn't as clever as him or I) and enjoyed her company unlike most people he found himself surrounded by at school. She was clever and Sherlock found her incredibly interesting, he knew she was pretty as he had overheard other boys and girls talking about her, however Sherlock himself did not really notice those types of things. Sherlock was moving schools at the end of term and was going to miss having a friend to talk, he knew that the would have no such luck at his new school. Irene was upset and promised to keep in touch via emails as his new school was a boarding school. Sherlock didn't feel too attached but felt something nagging in the back of his head and in his heart which he passed off to himself as gratitude toward Irene for being nice to him.
The end of term passed quickly and Sherlock found himself sat at home on his bed the day before his departure, he was dreading leaving. Unusually for Sherlock he cried a little as he realised that he wouldn't be back in this room until Christmas (It was August) and he wouldn't see his family until them. Even though he never showed it, Sherlock's family was important to him and he would miss his mother, father and Mycroft terribly. He didn't sleep very well that night.
...
His train was to depart in 5 minutes. Sherlock shook his father's and Mycroft's hands and kissed his mother on the cheek before making a swift exit from the group. "I love you" his mother called. Sherlock glanced round "I love you too, mum" he replied, blushing of embarrassment as he did so. Too afraid he would break down, he couldn't look them in the eye so he swiftly climbed onto the train, found his seat and kept his gaze straight down the carriage until the train had moved out of the station. He took deep breaths and began to calm down as the houses and buildings of his home town whizzed past and disappeared completely leaving trees and countryside. The journey took around 2 and a half hours and Sherlock tried to catch up on sleep for the last hour and a quarter of it.
...
Sherlock arrived at the station and was greeted by a teacher along with 6 other new students, 4 of which Sherlock deducted were from upper class families, 1 of which, by the hairs on his trousers, owned a Labrador crossed with a husky. The other 2 were clearly at the school with support of a bursary, one was a foreign student from Hong Kong, Sherlock saw this from the tag on his luggage. All of them had come by train. The teacher looked Sherlock up and down and smiled the way a shark does just before it bites. His thoughts were interrupted by a low, charming voice. ''I'm Professor Moriarty, I teach Psychology and PE but today I am in charge of escorting you to school safely. What is your name for my register?" he asked, I gulped. Sherlock instantly noticed an indent on the man's the finger from where a wedding was recently removed. He noticed the man's cufflinks were the brand "cherrytree" and were unique to a small suburban shop near Sherlock's home in Aylesbury.... Sherlock felt his heart twist. His old home, his new home was Sedberg School. "Holmes, Sherlock Holmes." Sherlock eventually replied, his voice sounding weak. "Oh yes, Mr. Holmes" Another wicked smile as he scanned down his list of names. "I found you" he spoke in a childish voice, as if he were playing a game of hide and seek. He made Sherlock's skin crawl and Sherlock knew that this wouldn't be the end of it. The other children just looked bored and didn't seem to notice how forward he was to Sherlock. He brushed it off and followed the group out of the station.
Sherlock had decided to take Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths for A- Levels as well as teaching himself further maths. He wasn't sure he could be taught very much but it just mean't that he had more free time for his experiments and friends - if he had any. PE was compulsory for everyone so he could possibly have Moriarty teaching him for that at some point depending on what set he was put into, however it would be a large class and Sherlock was useless at sport so would not make any of the teams and would be undoutedly in the lowest set. There were 3 chemistry teachers so Sherlock doubted that he would have Moriarty for that. Moriarty was also head of the blue house but Sherlock had not been assigned his house yet and knew he had a 1 in 4 chance of being in blue. He just hoped that it would all turn out okay and he wouldn't have Moriarty for anything.... Oh how wrong he was.
