Chapter 21

I go to school the next day dressed in skinny jeans a hoodie and my chestnut colored uggs. I decide to take my dad's car due to the freezing temperatures.

Grabbing my bag from the front seat I quietly make my way into school, someone taps my shoulder as I walk through the main doors. I turn around and see Marcel.

"Hi Marcel." I say and he smiles.

"Hi Alex." he says back a smile gracing his features.

"How've you been?" I ask.

"Good. How about you?" he asks.

"Well, life's had its ups and downs lately." I chuckle and he smiles.

"Y'know I heard you denied my brother when he asked you to prom." He says a hint of a smirk on his face.

"Um yeah I just, I don't really want to go." I say.

"I think you're the only girl in this school that has ever denied my brother anything." he says and I laugh.

"That's me." I say as we stop in front of my locker.

"He's hoping you change your mind I think." Marcel says and I shake my head.

"I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon."

"I think the reason he likes you is because you don't give him what he wants at the drop of a hat." Marcel says and I laugh.

"Yeah maybe." I say quietly.

"I'm glad you said no honestly." Marcel says and I furrow my eyebrows.

"Why is that?" I ask.

"Because now he can learn how to work for something for once in his life." Marcel says.

"Yeah." I mumble.

"Well, I have to get to class but I will see you later most likely." he says and I nod shutting my locker.

"Bye." I say and he waves back to me.

I make my way to first period and take a seat in the back quietly as the teacher walks in, she looks way to happy, as usual.

"Hello class!" she booms.

"Hello Mrs. Traveries." we all say monotonously.

"Even though today is the last day of school before Christmas break, we're still going to do some work." She says and we all groan.

"Today we're doing oral, improv speeches." she says clapping her hands together and we all groan in unison.

"Now, now. Each of you will come pick a topic from the cup, like charades, and then you will deliver a small speech about that topic, you will be graded, so actually try kids." she says taking a seat on her stool.

"Up first, Karen Yu." she says and the small girl gets up.

I zone out and find myself looking out the window at the small snowflakes falling to the ground slowly. I remember how in 2nd grade we learned that every snowflake is different and has a different pattern. I remember how that made me think of people and how I thought it was a great thing.

"Alex Kale!" Mrs. Traveries calls and I turn to face her.

"What?" I say.

"I said you're up." she says and I nod standing up from my seat.

I pick out of the cup.

"Love."

Fucking perfect.
