Jess' POV:
We're all sitting outside the now ruined CIA facility when we hear a worried, "Raven?" We all turn to see Charles, Erik, and Moira making their way over to us. Charles rushes forward and embraces his adopted sister.
The other two glance over all of us, making sure that we are ok. Erik's eyes linger on me for a second lover before moving on the next mutant. "Ok, that's it, we're sending all of you home immediately." Charles says. "No." Alex mutters. "What do you mean no?"
"He means he's not going back to prison." Sean says. "They killed all theses people and they won't stop until they are forcefully stopped." I say. "Which is precisely why you need to go home." Charles says.
"No, I said I would help you in exchange for training. If I go back now then this was all pointless." I say firmly. "Jezalynn do you not realize that everyone in this building was murdered last night?" Charles asks me. "Well we have to do something so their lives weren't wasted." I tell him.
"We can't bring them back." Charles explains. "No, but we can avenge them." Erik says. I look up at him, meeting his eyes. "Erik, a word please." Charles says, pulling his friend off to the side to discuss the options. I sigh, leaning back against the stone bench I am sitting on.
Charles turns to look at us. "We'll need training, yes?" Charles asks. "Obviously." I say. "Well we can't stay here. Even if they reopen the department, it's not safe. We have no where to go." Hank says. "Yes we do." Charles mutters. We all look at him confused. Raven is smiling happily.
Where are they going to take us? "Everyone, pile into those two cars, we have a drive ahead of us." Charles says. We all nod. Alex, Hank, and Sean get into Moira's car while Raven, Darwin, and I get into the car with Charles and Erik.
Raven insists on sitting up front with Charles so that leaves me squished in the back between Darwin and Erik. Most of the ride there I'm staring at my lap and fiddling with my fingers until Erik reaches over and grabs my hand, holding mine in his. I look up at him, confused.
He leans over and whispers in my ear. "There's nothing to be nervous about." "How do you know I'm nervous?" I ask him. "You fiddle with your hands and bite your lip when you are. Relax Liebe." He says. I blush again at the nickname. After that the car ride is silent.
My hand remains in Erik's the rest of the way. When we get to our destination I gape in awe. Charles brought us to a giant manor in upstate New York. It's magnificent. We all get out of our cars and gaze up at the giant structure. "This is yours?" Sean asks. "No, it's ours." Charles says.
"Come on, time for the tour." Raven insists, walking ahead of everyone else with Charles. Erik and I walk more towards the back of the group. His hand hasn't left mine since he took it in the car. After Raven and Charles are done with the tour they show us our rooms.
They're on the second floor. On the left it's Raven, me, Erik, and Darwin. On the right it's Charles, Moira, Alex, and Sean. "Now, before you all head off, who knows how to cook?" Charles asks. I raise my hand. "Wonderful. Would you mind cooking dinner.
We shall take a crack at it if you do not want to do it indefinitely." He says. I smile slightly at him. "I'm ok with doing it." I say. Charles just grins at me and dismisses everyone to do their own things for the next two hours while I am cooking.
When I reach the kitchen I look to see what it there. Several jars of tomato sauce, pasta, basil, different herbs, different spices. Somethings for breakfast. I grab the pasta, pasta sauce, and basil and take them with me to the stove.
I start boiling the noodles while I place the tomato sauce in a sauce pan. I quickly cook that and add the basil and other spices to make it better. Then I brown some hamburger meat and put it into the sauce.
Once everything is cooked it's time for dinner and everyone is starting to pile into the dining room. I quickly have them set the table and then place the food down. The meal is nice. Everyone seems to enjoy each other's company.
"Ok, tomorrow we shall start training. I want to meet with Hank first think tomorrow. Jezalynn you will be meeting with Erik." He says. I blush and nod. With that announcement made we quickly finish dinner and everyone helps in the cleanup.
After dinner is cleaned up we are all dismissed to do whatever, but are instructed not to stay up too late. Feeling pretty tired I start walking to my room to get ready for bed. I go to open my door to notice Erik going into his room as well.
"Sweet dreams Liebe." He mutters before he walks in and closes his door. Sighing I walk into my own room and shut the door. Quickly showering I change into some loose shorts and a tank top. I sit in my bed with a book from my nightstand.
I pick it up and start to read it, but my thoughts are all askew. Erik is confusing me. The way he talks to me, the way he held my hand earlier, the way he says 'liebe'. Everything he does sets my heart off, beating rapidly. I don't know what's wrong with me.
I debate talking to Raven, but I know that she would just make a bigger fuss about this that I am so I decide against talking to her. I don't know how to deal with these feelings I am feeling towards Erik. I've never really liked a guy.
I shut myself away from everyone else long enough to not know what it's like to have a first crush. Let's just hope this isn't my undoing.
