I decided to discuss the problem with Cindi herself. It was because, I didn't want to keep any secrets of knowing from her, and I wanted to address the problem as soon as possible, so we could remedy it as soon as possible.

So, I asked her on the first recess to stay after school with me so we could talk.

"Ok, I'm here." She said, after school while sitting down in front of me. "What did you want to talk about?"

I turned toward her, so that we were face-to-face, and I could feel compelled to keep looking at her when I spoke to her. I wanted to let her know through subtle signs that I was very serious about the situation. And constant eye contact, was one of my signs.

I exhaled. "Cindi... this is an important matter. No jokes involved."

This made her eyes widen. She must've known that I wasn't serious often, and that when I was, that it may mean something bad.

She nodded slowly. "Ok. I've got it."

"I'm just going to get right to it," I informed her. "It's about our relationship."

Cindi stood up instantly after I said that. "Our relationship? What's wrong with it? Did I do something that you didn't like? Are you just not satisfied?"

I shook my head several times. "No, no, no. That's not it at all. I'm not telling you that we should break up. I'm saying, that because of your parents, our relationship is in danger."

Her eyelids went down. "I see. It's about my family huh?"

I nodded in response.

She sighed; obviously not liking the talk already. "I know what you're gonna say. 'I think we should run away from your parents, cause they're stupid, and are terrible pokemon'. Yeah, well I'm not running away from them. They may be... u-unstable at the moment, but they're still my family."

I was a bit surprised. I wasn't suggesting running away at all; yet it seems like she's used to talking about running away from her parents.

I got a little closer. "No. I'm not saying we should run away. I think that's a very bad idea."

She rolled her eyes as if she was impatient. I had never seen her not want to talk to me as much as she did now. "Then what is it?"

I gulped down my discomfort and fear, and just spoke, "I think, that we should make an arrangement for me to meet your parents within the next five days."

She definitely expressed being taken aback. "Meet my... my parents?"

I nodded with enthusiasm. "Mhm. I just want to show them that I'm a good pokemon. And that I'll take care of you well,"

She shook her head. "No."

I continued, "So, that they can see what a good couple we are, and that you are happy with me, and-"

She spoke a little louder, "No."

I ignored her yet again. I wanted her to know just how important this was to me. "And that they can change the way they look at their own marriage."

She gritted her teeth. "No!" She shouted.

I leaned back. "What? Why? I thought you wanted me to meet them at Christmas."

She sighed. I felt her sadness weigh on my chest. "I did want you to meet them then. But not now."

I was confused by her now. "But why?"

"They're divorcing right now. I'm going to move with my mom far away from here."

It's like my entire body stopped functioning when I heard those words. She was moving? Away from me? We wouldn't be together anymore...

I blinked. "B-but... I-I could meet them before then-"

"Stop talking Constan!" She interrupted me. "This isn't something you would understand! Your dad died a while back, and that might've been terrible, but this... this is ruining my life! So stop acting like you understand!"

Her raising her voice made me flinch.

She noticed my fearful reaction, and she looked away. "...I'm sorry."

I tried to grab her paw. "It'll be ok-"

She stood up and turned around. "I'm... I'm sorry. I'm sorry for wasting your time." And with saying that, she began to run away from the school.

I tried to call out her name, but it caught in my throat.

She was hurting deep inside. And she was declining my offer to help.

And I thought that I could see the glimmer of teardrops coming from Cindi's direction as she ran...
