The wallflower poured her heart onto paper
She sought him out in the crowd
With trembling hands and a reddened face.
Her eyes landed on him and everything was gone
Faded, reduced to nothing
There was nobody else
Except for the two of them
There she stood in front of him
Avoiding his eyes
Shifting her weight from one foot to another
She held out her arm and passed the note
And ran before he could utter a single word
Hidden in a place he couldn't go, she smiled
Then laughter filled the room.
