Hayden's P.O.V.
Louis and I arrive at the airport. I try to keep my hands from trembling but it's no use. Louis's arm wraps around my waist and I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in.
"Louis, thank you so much for coming." I smile.
"Anything for you. I'm very excited to meet the man that you always talk about." Louis says. I await to see my father come down those steps. Here it is, the moment I've been waiting for ever since he left. My dad is finally coming home.
A bunch of military men pass me, not one resembling my father. Would he get a later flight and not tell me? Don't be silly, Hayden. He would've told you. Great, now I'm talking to myself.
My eyes glance over at the ramp coming along the wall. A man sits in a wheelchair, being pushed by a boy only a few years older then me. But that man in the chair wasn't just any man. It was my father.
"He never said that he was in a wheelchair." I say just above a whisper.
"Maybe he didn't want to tell you, Hayden. Maybe he didn't want to be questioned about it." Louis suggests. The wheelchair that my father is sitting on approaches.
"Hayden, you've...you've grown up." My dad smiles on the brim of tears.
"Daddy." I cry and bend down to hug him.
"My little girl." He whispers to himself. I start to sob into his shoulder, exchanging many 'I've missed yous' back and forth.
"And who's this fine gentlemen?" My dad asks, gesturing to Louis.
"Dad, this is Louis. He's my... boyfriend." I tell him.
"Boyfriend? Well, any boy that my daughter picks must be a good one. But what about Damien, sweetheart?" My father asks and I shudder at that awful name.
"He didn't treat Hayden right, sir. In fact, that's how we actually met-"
"Louis. Would you be a doll and grab my father's luggage?" I interrupt Louis. He gives me a confused look and then nods.
"I'm going to head out to the car. See the both of you there." My dad smiles and wheels away. I walk over to Louis and pick up some luggage.
"Why did you interrupt me?" Louis asks while we are gathering my father's things.
"You're kidding me, right? You were actually going to tell him about how Damien almost raped me? Louis he just got home from the war for God's sake!" I raise my voice in anger.
"He's going to find out sooner or later."
"Louis he just got home and he's in a wheelchair. A fucking wheelchair. He's paralyzed, Louis! And you were going to tell him that his only daughter was almost raped by her ex boyfriend?!"
"Look, babe, calm down. I know this is hard for you so I won't bring it up until you are ready." Louis tries to calm me down.
"Don't try to calm me down, Louis! Gosh you can be so difficult sometimes, can't you realize that I didn't want to tell him!"
"Hayden, that's enough. Your father is waiting in the God damn car. So we are going to go out there and act like everything is fucking perfect and we have nothing to hide." Louis frowns, folding his arms.
"Fine." I huff and we start to walk to the car.
"Are you one your period or something?"
"Louis!!"

FanficHayden never really asked for much. She's smart and has the looks. Even though her ex boyfriend, Damien, won't stop bothering her. Damien is the classic asshole and her mom isn't much better. Her father is in the army and she hasn't seen him in year...
