I couldn't sleep since that conversation I heard. I've been super paranoid, so much that my mother has noticed. "what's wrong?" she'll ask. I just shrug her off, not wanting to worry her. but, I think she is already doing so.
briskly, I walk past my mom, hoping she's just zoned into the tv. as I silently and slowly slipped past her, I could almost feel the hairs stand up in my arms as she turned to look at me. my hand slammed into the handle, pulling the door open. her voice rose, calling after me. ignoring her every call, I slammed the door shut.
I really didn't want to face her right now,
running out to my car, I jumped into the front seat. tears warned at my eyes, a ball forming in my throat.
I stuck the keys in the ignition, the beast roaring to life. my eyes locked onto the neighboring houses. they had small flowers, pumpkins, and decorations surrounding the houses. the dimmed light peered through the windows, shaping blissful family's eating together. the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, overriding the moon. the dark sky sparkled with stars, soon turning to a bright indigo, leaving me, alone.
my eyes snapped to my bag, noticing my phone
vibrating and lighting up in the pocket.
pulling out my phone, I read the name.
"Uncle Jake"
I was confused at first, quick to answer.
"hello?" I asked, demented.
"Carson! I'm glad you answered! I know it's early, but can you meet me at the southwest gas station?" I could hear him smiling through the phone. the recent mood lifted from my shoulders. I felt it the world was taken off my back.
"of course!" I answered, quite quickly. his belated answer was rushed, "okay! see you in bit'" he ended the call then, leaving me with the information after-call. I sighed, still sitting still in the beast. it tumbled loudly throughout the affluent neighborhood.
looking to the right, I noticed my brother struggling to get out of the door. his giant, bright red Nike bag was stuffed to the topmost it could. a bat stuck out of the side, showing an cut off signature. the black marker stained the thick wood, almost spreading.
he stumbled onto the grass, clothes and other what-sorts falling out onto the turf.
bad play, get to the sidelines
a laugh escaped form my mouth, shaking my head in the moment. my hair bounced on my shoulders, staring right back at my brother.
I could practically hear the groan from my truck. he staggered getting back to his feet, then stuffing the clothes in his bag. his angered tone whipped the door open, changing my mood as well. my brows furrowed together, a scream crawling up my throat.
before I could say Mary Poppins, I threw it up.
"Noah! If you ever open my door like that or slam it, I swear to whatever god you believe in, I will mess you up." his shocked eyes blinked up to mine, slowly closing the car door behind him. Noah settles in his seat, bucking int he process. I rolled my eyes, stepping on the pedal.___
okay this is an EXTREMELY small chapter. I'm sorry about that! it's only like 530 words. but, I promise the next chapter will be longer!
