Squad Goals
Kaito left Elsa, and ran towards the brother’s, and hugged them both at the same time. “It has been a long time.” Kaito called out. All of them nodded and leaned to what ever furniture was behind them. “So, crackers for everybody.” Zack claimed, and got out some bags of chips and crackers. “What are you guys doing now?” Kaito asked. They looked at each other, and replied with silence, but Tucker didn’t like how quiet the response was. “Let’s hop directly to the point.” Tucker started speaking. “You aren’t here by coincidence Kaito, we have been searching for you for a long time. We need you.” Tucker said. “Searching for me? Why?” Kaito asked surprisingly.
Silence dominated the room again, but this time Clay took the first turn to speak. “We are back to work, Kaito. We are doing a final heist.” Clay explained. “What? Are you serious?” Kaito said, and the constant smile drawn on his face, started to fade. “Here’s the truth Kaito, we are all broke.” Zack said, trying to tempt his emotions. “I am sorry guys, I have to go.” Kaito stated. “You’re leaving us?” Zack asked. “Yeah, I thought I came here, just to see my friends.” Kaito replied sensationally. “Really? You are going? Because I remember you were the one who wanted to continue the most.” Clay claimed, and started raising his voice. “And I remember, you were the one who took the decision that we stop.” Kaito shouted at Clay.
The room went silent again, and Elsa's heart beats started to rise, she was afraid to monitor a fight. “Stop both of you, we are not here to fight.” Tucker said, and raised his voice. “Kaito, we need you.” Tucker added. “Ok, can you tell me, why would I want to do that again? I have a huge house, a fancy car, a dream girl. Why would I take steps backwards?” Kaito asked logically. “Because we have always been brothers.” Zack said, trying to play with his emotions. “You are making it harder for me.” Kaito replied, keeping his eyes to the ground. “So, one final heist?” Kaito stated, directing the question to himself loudly. “Alright, let’s do it.” He said dramatically. Zack and Tucker cheered, but Clay just smiled and reached out his closed fist to clasp with Kaito’s.
Kaito stared at the ground, and then looked back at them, “But I have my condition.” He said harshly. They waited for him to speak, “Elsa out of it.” He claimed. “Alright. Yeah, Elsa out of it.” Tucker stated. “By the way, do you have something in mind? Do we have a plan?” Kaito asked generally. All of them looked uncontrollably at Clay, he was so cold, he wasn’t nervous. “Yes.” Clay replied after leaving them in a period of suspense quietness. “Cool. Come on we are staying at my palace.” Kaito mentioned. They seemed both shocked, and surprised from the word palace. “Get your vehicles, I have a two-seaters.” Kaito said, and gave them his back, and started going down the stairs.
All of them gathered their stuff, and followed them down the stairs, Tucker drove his motorcycle, and Clay and Zack took the four-wheel-drive car. They followed Kaito towards his house, it was placed in an isolated part of the town. It was really huge, a palace like he exactly described, it consisted of three storeys, and a roof on top. Most of the building was made out of non-reflecting glass, which looked fancy in a way, but also vulnerable. They went upstairs, everyone opening their mouths out of shock, except for Kaito and Elsa. “Lay your stuff here. Elsa will show you the way to your rooms. I am doing an important visit, and will be back soon.” Kaito said. “Take your time lad, we are relaxing tonight.” Zack stated.
Kaito took the car keys, and left alone, leaving Elsa with the rest of the pack. All of them sat in a luxurious living room, which was open to the rest of the house, containing large glass pads, giving a view to the large-scaled town. “May I ask you a question?” Elsa directed her question to Tucker. “Sure.” He said. “What happened to your eye? You aren’t probably born with It, right?” She asked again. Tucker hesitated and gave several glances at his brother, “Yeah, yeah. It.. It was just an accident.” He replied in a broken voice. “I am sorry.” She said, trying to comfort him. “No, no its..” Tucker was interrupted by his brother. “Ok, so is there any place we can go tonight? You seem to be in an abandoned hostile.” Clay said. “Yeah, there is a bar close from here, just a few blocks.” She replied. “But I think we need to wait for Kaito, he won’t be happy if he comes back and you are missing.” She added.
Talking was halted for a while, but soon Zack started to speak, he was feeling uncomfortable, and out of place. “Was Kaito like this when you knew him?” Zack asked Elsa naturally. She was muted for a couple of seconds, but then started thinking about an answer. “I don’t know what do you mean by ‘like this' but what I can assure you of, that Kaito wasn’t like this before he met you guys.” She replied smoothly. All of them looked at each other, they didn’t know whether that was a compliment or vituperation.
Meanwhile Kaito went to his jujitsu centre, he got in and headed towards his coach. He kneeled the traditional kneel of the sport, which indicated respect, and the coach replied with the same kneel. His coach was old, but seemed healthy, he didn’t have those wrinkles, normal old people have. “What Kaito?” The coach asked in shock. “I am sorry coach, I am sorry. I am stopping.” Kaito said in a broken, emotionally affected voice. “You mean you want a break? I think you deserve one.” The coach followed up immediately. “No, I am stopping forever.” He said harshly. The coach was mesmerized, “Are you kidding? You won three championships in a row, and you are the one and only nominee for the world championship.” The coach said, trying to convince Kaito.
Few tear drops fell off Kaito’s eyes, and then he looked back at the coach. “Its ok, I know you have a strong reason. Take care of yourself son, and remember I am always here for you.” The coach stated those words which touched Kaito’s heart as one of the few times. Kaito kneeled again and turned his back to the coach, he couldn’t reply with any of the words he knew. “Kaito!” The coach called out. Kaito looked back at him. “Have this, and never forget. I am always here for you.” The coach said, and handed Kaito a small, squared device, which had only one red button on it, and a small antenna. Kaito took the device slowly, while staring at it. “You know what to do. Now go.” The coach ordered.
Kaito moved out of the centre, knowing it might me the last time he gets in. He could have played, but he gave respect to the sport, as he know he was going back to being a criminal. He tried inhibiting his tears to flow, to remain strong, he didn’t like to look weak, even to himself alone. He took the car and drove back home, without a single drop flowing off his eyes. He went inside to find all of them waiting for him to return. “Kaito, we are going to the bar, joining us?” Tucker asked. Kaito sighed, “Hop in.” He said enthusiastically. Evening have already fallen, and the palace was full of neon lights, and shining light spots near the swimming pool, and the roof.
