After a few more nights in the hospital. It was time to go.

"I bought a house while you were gone." Luke said after I was discharged. "It's here, because I visited so often it was pointless to stay in a hotel the whole time." I nodded in response. "It isn't far."

We walk through the parking lot, "which one's yours?" I ask.

"This one." He points at a car, the car.

My breath hitches, he continues talking and doesn't notice that my hands start shaking again. "I borrowed it from my mom because my dad just bought her a new one so..." He looks over with a smile on his face. "It's mine now."

I stop walking as he continues smiling. His smile falters. "This was the car wasn't it?" He asks softly. "Calum." I nod once and he grasps my shaking hand.

"It's okay." He whispers "I'm here now."

Once we walk inside his house, it feels weird, walking, talking, even wearing the worn out shirt I bought a while ago feels strange. Like my life has been on pause while everyone else's was on play. Like I was standing in the middle of the side walk watching everyone go past, not moving an inch.

"All your stuff is kinda in boxes, but I could help you unpack tomorrow." Luke offered "you seem, dazed."

"Why wouldn't I be?" I ask folding my hands and sitting on them so maybe they'd stop shaking. "I'm on a lifeline, Luke."

He sits next to me on the couch. "Fill me in." I say, "what's happened?"

"Michael and Ash are really distant I guess. When I told them you woke up they said for me to call them both when you were ready."

"Oh." I say, "you?"

"Nothing." He says. "Nothing at all. I mean friends visit every now and then, family. Going to see you. Nothing."

"Great, now I feel like an anchor holding you down." I roll my eyes. "Did anyone else come to see me?"

"You had a new person every day." He smiles "don't worry, even your mom came."

I feel a little better despite the circumstances, "what about the Band Luke?" I ask and he sighs.

"Honestly, if you want to then sure. But we would have to write a lot of songs."

"We'll figure it out." I shrug. And then there is silence for a good 5 minutes. "Wow, I'm really hungry." I announce.

"I'd imagine" he laughs. But I still don't ask the question that's killing me ,if we're still together or not. I mean, I didn't fall out of love with him. But maybe he did. "Pizza!?" He asks, but he knows the answer. My stomach grumbles, "Pizza." He answers nodding.

-

After we eat I look in the cardboard boxes, and there it is, it's the empty red journal. I quickly open it and there it is, inside there's a plane ticket, the flight leaves in two days.

"I was so worried I wouldn't see him." Says a voice, Luke, from behind me. "So I went and bought them on your birthday, but you never opened it."

"I was sure we wouldn't be able to go. But I guess we can if your up for it." He asks assuring me.

"I am." I nod, and he bites his lip to keep from screaming.

Instead I turn around and hug him. "Thank you." We both say at the same time, and it's kind of cute, but it's kind of awkward so I pull away.

"It feels like the missing piece is back." Luke says, and I push him away because he's being too cliche.

I scrunch up my nose and swat him away, "you're cheesy." I whine.

"But it's true Calum." He declares, "you have to face the facts, I swear I'd so anything for you." And it feels like I'm in some romance novel.

I don't know how to reply, I just stand there. "Yeah...same." I blush and he laughs.

"Fail." He says. "Anyways. Goodnight Calum. It's nice to have you back." And he shuts the door.

I turn and fish some PJ bottoms from one of the boxes not bothering to unpack, I lay down on the fluffy bed, but it's impossible to sleep. Because I have been doing that the past 8 months. I get up and walk across the floor, the cold wood against my feet. I creek open the door, and there's Luke sitting up in his bed writing.

"Hey." I say.

"Hi." He replies and puts his pen and paper away.

"I can't sleep." I respond.

"That's ironic." He chuckles and yeah, it is. So without asking I take up his un spoken offer of sitting with him on his bed.

"Lets play Rock Paper Scissors." He announces.

"Why?" I ask.

"Because, it's the most boring game ever so you'll get really bored of it and tired so you'll want to sleep." He says, "duh."

So I cave in and play, thinking that there's no possible way. We play 5 times and he bears me 4 out of 5.

"Paper beats rock." He announces proudly. "5 outta 6 Hood. Beat that!"

On our 7th try when I finally win again, it works.
