days had past since the love making. and let me tell you, they did on more than one occasion.
but today happened to be a day that both lads had dreaded. a disadvantage to having a lover on the other side of the continent? going back, to the other side of the continent.
luke had very much fun in his stay in perth. he had met ashton, reunited with some kin, introducing ashton to his family, meeting ashton's family. so, lots of meetings, but it still made luke happy.
these few days have made luke realise that he was really lucky. he could have picked a different name in the yellowpages. or ashton could have never picked up. or he could have never went to perth. but whatever kind of mystery magic that was in the air, it worked just right.
so as the two sit together by the gates, waiting for luke's plane, they just lay snuggled into each other, trying to slow down time. meaningful words exchange, and tender touches burn skin. neither would care if green day played a live show right in front them, it was all about luke and ashton.
and ashton was wrong. luke was the big spoon. even if he had tried to be the bigger one, luke wouldn't allow in and scoot away until ashton turned into the little spoon.
"flight b182 to sydney now boarding."
the only motion that either boy out was a long, depressed sigh.
slow and steadily, ashton was the first to rise. he knew that his lover was to part soon, so may as well get it over.
"luke."
"no."
"yes luke."
"no ashton."
and so ashton did the only think he knew would woo luke out of his chair, and onto the plane. ducking down, he placed a soft kiss delicately against luke's lips. and as ashton began to back up, with his lips still connected, luke stood up to continue the kiss.
oxygen was running low, and luke's heart was racing from too much carbon dioxide in his system, so his lips detached first.
"final call for flight b182."
and with intense starring, luke reached for ashton's hand, placed a kiss on his knuckles, and then a swift peck to his lips. all the while, blue bore into hazel.
"goodbye, my love."
and a shaky sigh left ashton. "not goodbye, just a see you later."
luke let out a small chuckle, rubbing his thumb lightly against ashton's knuckles. "okay, see you later, my love."
then luke turned and boarded the plane, without another word.
and long after luke's plane took to the skies, ashton still stood in front of the gate. long after the sun had set, ashton hadn't left the position luke had left him. it took hours of thinking and replaying conversations of the three days he had spent with a dorky eighteen year old boy, but ashton had come to a conclusion.
"i think i love you, too."
the conclusion ashton had come to was a wise one. it isn't how you fall in love, it's if it was real. and knowing luke for such a short time, it didn't matter that they moved really, really fast. it mattered that it was deep enough. and it was very fucking deep.
so, as ashton drove back home, he always kept an eye on his phone,
waiting for his love to prank call him once again.
