Hi, here ya go
LINEBREAK
Clack Clack Clack
Two dark-skinned figures sat stiffly, slightly (almost unnoticeably) wincing with each clack of the white-haired womans' nails.
"So. . ." the pale woman started to the dismay of the two sitting before her, "She escaped."
The two brown-haired women shifted uncomfortably before one spoke out.
"Forgive me for speaking out Kaguya-sama, but she caught us off guard and-"
"Are you supposed to be off guard?"
The woman who had spoken, the one in the navy kimono, flinched at the response given, knowing it to be true and that her previous argument was flimsy at best.
Why couldn't we remained dismissed? Better yet, why couldn't the indigo haired girl have not escaped?
"Well Kazumi, are you to be caught off guard at any time?"
"No, Kaguya-sama, I am- we are not to be caught off guard at any times," Kazumi finished, throwing her duplicate a sideways stare.
"Way to throw me under a horse," the woman in the red kimono mumbled almost soundlessly, but it did her no good as all the people in the room had senses well beyond those of a regular human being.
"Katsumi quiet yourself, you're in no position to be speaking as your lungs were previously injured. It would do you no good to waste your breath," Kaguya said condescendingly.
Katsumi ducked her head and clenched her fists, knowing full well that the previous comment was said only to highlight her defeat as she had been healed long before they had been called back into Kaguya's office.
Kaguya sighed.
"Cease with the self-deprecation if you could. I can feel it rolling off you in waves. Besides, her escape is not what I called you both to discuss."
Sitting up straight, Katsumi and Kazumi directed all their focus to their boss.
"Things. . .have changed," Kaguya started as she turned her gaze to a tea kettle causing it to float over to her location.
"What do you-"
"Don't interrupt me, Katsumi."
Looking shaken, Katsumi once again turned her face to the floor and her sister quickly copied her actions as to make sure Kaguya's wrath didn't turn her way.
"The original chosen is not ready, but at the same time already complete. She is in the midst of a mortal crossfire. One involving more emotions than any of us know how to deal with," she continued as the kettle tilted itself and poured tea into the cup beside.
"But in the same sense the girl who just passed through is in a similar boat. However, her turmoil can be much easier manipulated."
The twins gave each other a quick glance.
She doesn't mean. . .
Surely she isn't implying. . .
"Things have changed. The plan has changed," Kaguya said before lifting the still steaming cup of tea to her lips and taking a sip, "too hot," she muttered.
"And with it, the chosen has changed."
Katsumi stood up, surprised and honestly concerned for the sanity of her boss, and nearly shouted, "You can't be serious!"
Looking upwards at her now-standing vassal, Kaguya said in a smooth voice, "Oh but I am. Also," she continued as she raised her pointer finger to the woman in the red kimono, "Sit down." With that said she jerked her finger downward causing Katsumi to crash back to the floor on her knees.
Wincing at her sister's rough treatment, Kazumi hesitantly raised her voice to speak, "Forgive my sister Kaguya-sama, but Katsumi's outburst is somewhat justified. We've invested too much time and effort in the current chosen to suddenly drop her and find another. Especially one we know nothing of; she poses too much of a risk. Not to mention that the current chosen has developed greatly since her early adolescence. She has made great strides as of late and to simply cast her aside would-"
"Enough."
The temperature of the room dropped greatly as Kaguya's cold voice cut in.
"Are you. . .questioning my judgement?"
Kaguya's pearl clear eyes suddenly resembled the gray of thunderclouds as she stared piercingly at Kazumi. Her chakra enveloped the room creating a thick atmosphere swirling with tension.
"I- well, I- n-NO of course not my lady, b-but don't you think it- um, w-well, im-impractical to change direction when we're this close t-to. . .to. . ."
"To what?"
"T-to. . .to. . ."
"Let me guess, to. . .victory. Is that what you're trying to say," Kaguya spoke with a condescending tone.
To afraid to speak at this point, Kazumi nodded frantically despite the clearly negative lilt in Kaguya's voice.
"Hmm, well then," Kaguya began, "you are wrong. Very wrong."
Stilling holding her tea cup, Kaguya took a sip and stared at both of the twins looking significantly calmer and very weary.
"I'm growing weaker," Kaguya said without hesitation, "and as you know, as I grow weaker," she put her tea cup down, "she grows stronger."
"What- but, you seem fine," Katsumi blurted out.
Apparently not giving as much care to Katsumi's current outburst than her previous ones, Kaguya gave a slight chuckle that was devoid of any humor.
"I appear that way don't I," she gave another bitter laugh, "but internally, I'm something else."
"My chakra is losing potency."
Kazumi stared at her with disbelieving eyes as she tried to process what she and her sister had just been told.
"My lady, you cannot be seriou-"
"Except I am, " Kaguya said interrupting Kazumi's objection.
Kaguya sighed while clasping her hands together on the table in front of her, suddenly looking as tired as she had been for a near millennium.
"So you see why we cannot afford to wait for the previous chosen's emotional state to settle to a point we can better. . .channel. Time is of the essence, and a chosen must be found and trained immediately. And what better chosen than the one who can be molded like clay."
"Now," Kaguya said, "As for your new mission."
Kazumi and Katsumi sat upright, waiting and worried.
"You are to follow the new chosen and observe her. Find anything that can be used to push her to the cause, however, do not interact with her until I say otherwise. This is your mission. Do you think you can complete it or do I have to worry about her making fools of you both once again?"
Ears burning slightly red Kazumi answered, "No, Kaguya-sama."
"I'm talking to the both of you. Will you complete this mission?"
The two dark-skinned women looked to each other before turning back to Kaguya and saying,
"Yes, my lady."
Yea I know I'm shitty, and I'm sorry.
