Lauren's P.O.V.
I sat down, looking at my surrondings. The fresh smell of pine trees hit me hard. This was everything I hoped for, I begged my mom to let me come here. I've been counting the days till i had the chance to be here. Just walking on the rock path to my cabin gave me enough adrenaline. I opened the cabin door looking at the beds. I decided to set my bags on the bed far from the door. I didn't want to get to cold in the middle of the night.
"You must be, Lauren. Right?"
"Yes, and you?"
"I'm Alexis, one of your cabin mates." she offered me her hand. I shook her hand, excited that someone actually made an effort to talk to me. "How many more people are in this cabin?" I asked sitting on my bed. "I think it's just us, because I was on the last bus to get here." she smiled at me "We should probably go to the chapel."
"Um, they have a church?" I sat up, following her out the cabin.
"Oh, it's not a church," she waved for me to keep up so I ran up to her side, "It's where we gather for camp fires or when something important happens."
"Ohhhh. Well anything I should know?" we reached the benchs and sat down.
"Not that I can think of no." I looked at my surrondings enjoying what was 'chapel'. I kicked my shoes off, touching the sand loving that it wasn't wet but felt soft. Once I had taken in everything I was nudged by Alexis. "A really, really cute boy is staring at you." she nodded her hand in the direction of the boy looking at me. I didn't know if I looked weird or probably had something in my teeth, but then again he couldn't really see from that far, right? "He's staring.. should I be scared?" I turned my head to my new friend. She shook her hand no. As soon as i turned back to see if the boy was still looking in my direction he was gone. I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Is this seat taken?" he asked, his accent thicking with every word. He was handsome, jet black hair, hazel brown eyes, and best yet a very chiselled jawline. "Um.. uh... I..." Alexis hit my back hard, noticing my panic. "No! I mean no, no one's sitting here." I awkwardly laughed it off, seeing his laugh with me. "Great," he sat down and moved closer next to me, "I'm Zayn."
"Hi Zayn, I'm Lauren." he smiled at me staring into my eyes, "What a beautiful name, for a beautiful girl." I blushed at the fact he was flirting with me. "Thanks, but I'm not that um beautiful." I said wanting to take back what I said, hoping I didn't kill the conversation. "Well, that's only, because you don't see how you beautiful you are to me." he offered a smile, warming my heart. "I was wondering if maybe...uh if you wanted to hang out by the lake or something..." I nodded yes, watching his lips form a smile. He started to rise until I reached for his arm, "Stay? Please." he sat back down next to me, starting a conversation with me. We got to talking I found he was 5 years older than me which didn't really matter to me, but people would think weirdly about us. But honestly who cares, I was 14 enjoying camp and he was 18 here for his last year, before he would apply for a camp director. He was cery interesting, but I can't help but think 'Why is he talking to me? Out of all the people here, that are his age and understand things from his point of view better.' Age was a small factor in this friendship. From this point on I never knew I would find a best friend that would soon mean the world to me.
Present (2014)
"Lauren!" I was standing outside the bus not wanting to wait for anybody. I was once again too thrilled to be stopped from smelling the fresh pine needles. I inhaled the scent, "Its great to be back.."
"Well for you atleast. There's no service or anything out here.." Dinah groaned making her way off the bus.
"I told you that before you even wanted to come with me. Listen guys I know you wanna see where half my childhood was, but maybe you guys should go back." I said looking around for any familar faces.
"Lauren, just give her some time she'll get over it soon, besides we wanna enjoy this camp experience with you." Ally comforted me, smiling from ear to ear.
"Okay, good. The cabins are this way." We started walking over to the two cabins we asked for, 3 would be in one and 2 in the other. Its would be Ally, Dinah and Normani in the first cabin then me and Camila in the next. We went our seperate ways to unpack and pick our beds. Once we settled down I heard the down open, knowing it was one of the girls I kept going on with my business. I felt a tap on my shoulder, "Laur!" I turned my head to see Alexis. I got up as fast as I could and hugged her tightly missing her so much since we had the Demi Lovato tour recently. "Oh my god, Lex is missed you so much it's crazy." she put her stuff on my bed, "Lets go catch up. I wanna know how touring feels." I was being pulled out the room, but being I started walking I caught a glimpse of Camila, frowning. I'll talk to her about that later, but right now I just want to focus on Alexis.
"You went with Little Mix?" I nodded, forwning slightly, "What about Zayn?" she asked.
"She doesn't even know. Crazy, no?"
"Do you think Zayn's coming? I heard he was bring his band mates too."
"Yeah, probably. Simon would do it for promotion, defintely."
"Aw, Laur," I had hands wrapped around my neck, pulling me closer and closer. Alexis has always been one of the best huggers I know.
"Everything will be okay. I'll be okay. This summer is going to be okay. Right?"
"Just like old times."
