This is a story. A story in which, bad and terrible things happen...

Let it began.

The moment when everything ends... What ends? What is everything? Conciousness? Life? The indomitable Human race? Matter?

If I told you that, would you go on? Would you continue life? Would you go to your useless book clubs, football games, movies, or work?

I hope not, because it is time.....

The Records of the CoreQuest Chronicles..........

Dear Log,

Evelina Lucy Hails 19:23, 2074, Saturday

This Evening we look out from the living quarter windows... The Earth...

Lays in pieces around the ship in space... The ships gravitational field makes the dust and debris circle the ship. I have asked Geoff, the Captain's right hand man, if they debris will collide with the ship many times. It is a mesmerizing sight.

Terrible, because there lays our world. Earth. The Aliens attacked, fooled us, put us through a World War. Only, to smite the world in 30 minutes. They Laughed at us. Our world, lost only 15 survivors. The only reason I am here is CoreQuest.... CoreQuest saved my life, no matter the lying bastards they are. I don't know much, but they knew this was coming. I get mixed feelings though, I am glad to be alive with my Uncle, but 11 billion people, are dead, gone.

I am alive, because my Uncle was a scientist for CoreQuest. Indispensable, so they, planned to save us too. Only 15 out of the planned 56 made it. Now we must, carry on. Revive. I'm not sure how we must go about this, but nevertheless, it shall happen. Davis says I mustn't worry, but Davis thinks I am a little girl sometimes. Bestfriend or not, I am not thick.

I know that the Smartest Leaders that existed on Earth are stumped. Aboard this ship we wait, for an idea sign form of life.....

It gets tiresome, especially when I can't sleep for night terrors. Reading helps, learning, trying to cope and act like it didn't happen, are they ways I survive.

This helps too, I am the youngest onboard, and the one without a sure purpose on running the ship, so I get bored the data logging helps.

I need to retire for the evening, I will try and stop by the labs and see Uncle Max, Capt. Jack told me that I need to drink some tea to deal with the terrors, so hopefully Max can make me some.

*******************************************

I got up from the computer, surveying my room, living area, whatever it was. It was made for 12 people, but I am the only one in here, the other two women are Larissa and Marla, Larissa is 47 and her husband died, on the Last Days. Marla is 35 and a nonsense nurse, she is very quiet, she is actually my 5th cousin, her girlfriend had died, in battle in The World War. I am the only teenager, and the only one kinda useless. Davis says That I am the life of the party, and I entertain the others, I guess it is true.

Thinking while walking, had led me to the Lab. I spotted Max, staring at his computer, his black hair, like mine curled and messy, his beard fierce looking.

"Uncle Max, are you busy?" I asked Max. Running my fingers over the metal table, and examining the plant on the other table. He looked up, smoothing his frown into a smile.

"Nah, Whatcha need Ells?" The beeping of the calculating computer, in the room next to us, seemed to leak through the glass wall.

"I am thinking of going to bed, can you get me some tea?" He smiled at me, while sliding his finger down the sides of his work, on thr computer darkening the screen and saving it. He went to the other side of the room to his desk, and pulled out a thermos. He winked at me.

"Off you go, dear! Sleep swell!" I strangely felt as through I was dismissed. I nodded to Max, before heading to bed.

I was lost in thought, while my bare feet padded down the corridors. In the gym, Geoff was working out. Frantically, Capt. Jack flew around the control room, in his simple maddening way.

The others were asleep. I headed to the kitchens. The cool and silent room, was lonely. I made a small mug of tea. Blowing the steam off, I almost screamed when someone poked me. Laughing broke out hysterically behind me. I sat my mug down, before looking Davis, in the eye.

"Jerk! Ugh, what are you up to?" I asked Davis, he was my friend, but I still have no clue why he is on the ship. He always disappears to do stuff, and I completely trust him, but.... I never know anything.

"Looking for Evelina! She is suppose to be reading with me." I pouted, and stared at my best friend. He immediately softened. He soon started apologizing, and I just smiled.

"I am extremely tired. Tomorrow?" Davis looked concerned. He started following me to my room.

"What is wrong? The terrors?" I looked down and just walked faster, finally crawling into my bed. At 21, Davis is four years my senior. He was awesome, normally, but he frets far to often.

"It is nothing, Davis."

"If it was nothing you would sleep, Evelina."

"No matter, I need to get into bed, Davis." I snuggled myself into my bed. Davis stared at me.

"Tell me, a story. How did you get on the ship?" I shied away from his cross look. I shook my head.

"Nevermind, see you in the morning." I buried my head into my barrage of pillows.
