"Want to? No, need to? Yeah. So, Evelina where to begin." Davis wondered aloud. I studied him, wandering how he switches moods so quickly....

It was quiet for a bit before Davis started talking.

"Well, it is like this, Evelina......" He sighed and ran a hand over his face. I looked over at the others, they seemed as anxious to hear the truth as me.

"Will you just tell me?" I snapped. I stood up, walking to the fridge and pulling out a water. Twisting off the lid I looked to Davis. "You are stalling."

"Just don't hate me. Okay well, this all starts in the year 3256." He looks to me for a second. before continuing. "I was a bright student, a genius actually, in my second year of university. I had created something." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Imadeatimemachine." He mumbled soft and fast.

"Oh." I responded confused.

"I traveled for a while constantly, then I traveled back and saw the Earth, in its younger days, when they had, err, issues, with aliens. I had decided to travel back to try and fix it. That is when the problems began." I was transfixed with the story, but upset. I knew nothing, about the person I considered a best friend. I looked over at the Fells. They were mesmerized as well. Taylor looked up and locked eyes with me. I looked away feeling awkward. I looked at Davis expectantly.

"I stepped out of my time machine and was assaulted with bright fluorescent lights. The had destroyed my time machine, with the scanning and radiation. I was stuck there, so I stepped back when I heard him for the first time, John Locke, he looked at me and said, 'Who are you?'. I told him my story, he told me his, his scientist picked up high traces of radiation, and atomic power, and awaited my arrival."

"After my plea, about the alien and human communication he decided to make E.C.C.O, as a liaison party. To initiate contact and help sort out any issues. This didn't go over well." Davis chuckled, almost darkly. I was nestled in my seat, my jacket pulled tight around me. I had the sleeves pulled past my hands, and sat cocoon-like. I looked at Davis, his grey eyes, held secrets. Too many.

"Locke decided the way to deal with the issue was to make soldiers, and where there are people willing to fight, there will be war. He trained his men, had ships made, and went after all aliens, good or bad, I beg, pleaded for him to stop. He told me to help him or stop him. That was they day my faith in humanity faltered. I had came for a solution and cost many beings their lifes. I soon started doing my own work, finding all the people I needed, investing getting means, means to start a counter organization, and thus CoreQuest was born." He stopped talking, for a bit, his face distraught, sorrow radiated off him. His eyes now looked like a storm cloud, fierce.

"I tried so hard to fix things Evelina, I believe I singlehandedly ruined them." I got up, walking to him slowly, wrapping my arms around him into a hug, I felt wetness slide down my face. I was so sad, and still angry, he pulled away and continued talking, after disceetly wiping his face. "I figured, If I could get a collection of the best minds off the planet before bad things happen, I could give the human race a chance. Locke is dead though, so the survival can happen, we can rebuild." I looked towards the Fells, they looked contemplate. Maser looked confused, while Taylor looked as though his life just changed. He heard the other side of the story, the enemy's pleas.

"Let's rest for the night, our superiors are all talking. Where is some empty beds, and clothes? Ellie?" Taylor asked me. I got up, wiping the tears off my face and heading to the store rooms.

I pulled out large, for Taylor's lithe, swimmers body. Extra large, for Maser's thick muscled frame. I grabbed some covers and pillows. I padded along, the men carrying our supplies. Silence permeated the air, tension was not as thick though. The silence was comforting.

I went to the kitchens, pulling out sandwich meat, I fixed out the bread, while the others got out water and chips. I put turkey on each sandwich, and handed them out. We ate, our munching loud.

Knowing the extra space in my part of the living quarters, I lead them there, pointing out beds they soon starting dressing them. Davis left, before I pondered it, he had returned with his bedsheets. "The bathrooms over there." I pointed the Fells to the multi stall and shower bathroom. I took off my jacket and crawled into my bed.

"Do you hate me?" I turned to face Davis, he came to my bed lying beside me. I was curled up in my side facing him. He stared at the ceiling. His fingers laced across his chest.

"No." I said softly. "I understand, I wish you could have told me. I mean, you know about my parents and Uncle Max, but is Davis your real name even?" He sighed. He pulled me close and I cuddled against my best friend, at the mention of my past.

"No, it is Davidson. I am sorry, Evelina. I am. honestly. I am glad you know now, even if is so late." I sighed this time. I got up and sat crosslegged on my bed. I stared at him, he seemed different. The sorrow was still, there, but it seemed not as heavy a burden.

"It is okay, I am still going to call you Davis, you are still my best friend. Let us sleep tonight, the problems will be there in the morning." He got off my bed. He kissed my forehead and went to the bed he prepared. A few minutes later, Maser plopped onto his bed. Taylor, exited the bathroom a little later. I promptly fell asleep.
