I stared up at Taylor.
"What? Why do you all want Davis?" I asked my thoughts wandering. I was starting to get annoyed. He looks at me thoughtfully.
"Who all?"
"You and Maser. He said Davis worked for E.C.C.O. I have no idea what is going on. I know nothing!" I ended my tirade and tried to calm myself. I sat myself down on one of the big lounge chairs and sighed.
"You already meet Maser? Hmm. Well, in any case, I must find my brother, it was ... nice to meet you." He said the last bit, politely. I don't know what came over me when I blurted out:
"Can I come with you? I really have nothing better to do, and I deserve to know what is going on." The last part turned into a questions. I feared patronization again, today. I looked up at him, curiously. He was taller than me, especially when I was sitting down. I bet he was around 6 feet 3. So about a foot taller than me. I was surprised to see he was even considering letting me go. I held my breathe as he started to speak.
"Yeah, come on. " I stifled my urge to jump up and down. Following him out of the lounge, I pointed him towards where I last saw the boys. I was anxious to find out what was going on. I looked down and realized I was wearing my pajama bottoms and no shoes. My face turned scarlet, I was thoroughly embarrassed. No wonder everyone treated my like a child.
"Masters, You know you were ordered to keep your mouth shut!" I heard the smooth voice of Maser, yell as we apparently neared them. I was worried, what had Davis got into?
"Maser, Davis, you both need to calm down. Let us go sit and talk. Ells, will you lead us somewhere to talk?" I nodded a yes. I led them back to the lounge room. I was kind of distressed. I don't like being ordered around, but I kind of felt the need to listen to this strange man.
"Evelina, what are you doing here?" That was the wrong thing for him to ask. I marched over to him, and grabbed his arm. As a tiny 5 foot girl, this had no effect, but he came with me. Pulling him to my room. I shut the doors, not even letting the hydraulics finish hissing before I started on him.
"Look, Davis! I don't know what your problem is, but I do not appreciate you speaking down to me. I already have most of the crew and Max doing it. You might be older, but if the men on our ship isn't enough evidence, You don't know everything!" I took a deep breath. "You are seriously my only friend, but if you only lie to me and speak down to me. I guess, there is no point. I may not have a lot of choices, when it comes to friends here, but I feel useless enough! I don't need you reiterating the fact!" I finished and threw my face into my pillow.
"Go figure out what you need to with the Fells and E.C.C.O. I will stay in my room like good girl. Now get the hell out!" My voice was muffled in my pillow. I felt the tears fall. I was just sick of all this. I was the useless person on the ship. The youngest, and the burden. I had enough issues, watching my world get destroyed. I might be being a drama queen. I think, though, that a complete melt down was due.
I felt the pillow move. Davis's peppermint breath washed over my face.
"You really feel like that? Ellie, I am so sorry. I feel awful. I am just stressed. I thought I had E.C.C.O. out of my life. It turns out it is coming to bite me in the butt. I will explain later what is going on. You need to understand, we aren't patronization you. We are trying to protect you. Please, forgive me..." He whispered this in my ear. I turned over and hugged him. I have just had a rough month.
"Come on, lets go figure out what they want from me!" He picked me up and held me to him, before sitting me down. I wiped my face and he hugged me once more. We stepped out side, and I was surprised to see the Fells soliders leaning on the other sides of my door. Evasdroping most likely. I sighed.
"Are you alright?" Taylor asked. I was surprised, but held back my shock.
"Peachy." I muttered sarcastically, while sitting down in the lounge chair, I had vacated in my search for the boys.
"So, would someone like to explain to me, what is going on?"
