I figured she deserved to have my name. There's nothing she wanted more."
==========

I can't just leave him. He doesn't have anywhere to stay. Well, that's what it looked like.

Damn, he was so happy yesterday. Of course, my heart overpowers my brain.

I got out of my car and walked up to him. "Are you okay?"

He didn't answer, just cried. I felt awkward, and hugged him gently. He went tense. "Yeah, a strangers hugging you."

"D-did you s-see everything...?" I pulled away. "Yes. I'm sorry, but can I buy you breakfast?" It was almost lunch, but fuck it, when do I care?

"You don't have to..."

"I insist sir."

He looked around nervously. "Okay, but afterwards I need to find a place to stay," he gave in, tearing up at last part. "Okay, come on, my cars over here."

He looked a little suspicious. Hell, I would be too. I was kind of shocked he actually agreed to some stranger's offer.

I got in, and he got in the passenger seat. He must of noticed my luggage in the back, because he asked, "Going somewhere?"

"Heh. Yeah. I recently left home. I don't know where to now, just as far as I can get, I guess." I had no idea why I was opening up to this guy, I don't even know him!

"What's your name?" He asked as I drove. "Well...just call me Ari. I don't go by my birth name."

"Why?"

"Why?" I repeated, "well, my father and mom disagreed on my name. My father wanted to call me Bliss. My mom, wanted to call me Ari. My father won the stupid argument, and not long after, my mother died. I figured she deserved to have my name. There's nothing she wanted more."

I didn't explain any further.

"Oh. I'm sorry."

"Don't be." I gave him a small smile. He looked out the window. "What's your name?"

"Liam."

"I like it."

What am I doing? I don't have the money for this! But I couldn't just have left him.

I pulled into a doughnut shop, and we got out. Liam looked to me. "Thank you," he said nervously.

"Not a problem at all, Liam."

"I know it is, so thank you again." After saying this, he walked inside. I followed after him. "Pick anything you want. Honestly."

He let out a smile, and ordered two glazed doughnuts and a small coffee with creamer. It was only like $5, so I ordered the same, but iced coffee.

We grabbed our food and sat down. "Ari?"
"Yeah?" I sipped my coffee. "Why did you help me? I bet this is a bit off your schedule for running away."

"I can't watch someone get thrown out and not do anything. He was your boyfriend, right?" Liam nervously nodded. "Yes, he's gay, I'm bi." I could tell the mention of his ex was a bad subject, so I brought up something else.

"Well, I don't mind. I'm actually bi myself."

"Really? It's kind of rare to find others," he laughed. I nodded, "Yeah, you didn't come as a shock to me."

We laughed and ate. We talked some more, turns out that Liam comes from a family of red hair just like his. He doesn't really have freckles, but his 2 brothers and sister do. A lot.

He also told me his sister is lesbian, and 14, while his brothers are straight and both 12.

I told him that I was the daughter of Merrian Carsa, an extremely rich guy who had a mansion, Tesla, fucking copter, and an enormous ego. He laughed at this, and soon we had decided to go.

We got in my car after cleaning up. "So, Liam, what are you going to do?"

"Um, I only have like $1,200. So...call my mom to see if I can stay there."

"I could drive you if you want," I offered. "That'd be awesome, but I don't want to get in your way."

"I don't mind." I smiled. I let him call his mom and I stayed quiet, grabbing a book and reading.

"Hey mom." Small pause.

"I'm okay, but I don't have a place to stay." Second pause.

"No. He dumped me this morning." Another.

"Mom, it's not because he's gay, we got in a fight." Long pause.

"You don't? Mom, I'll help, yes." Really long pause.

"I know. Just, listen, this girl I met, Ari, helped me out. She bought me food and offered a ride."

"Yes she was a stranger."

"She was nice! No."

"Please, just listen-"

"I don't have anywhere else to go!" Here, I decided to get out of the car. I felt a little invasive. I read my book, with frequent glances to Liam. At one point, I saw Liam tear up. He put the phone down, and covered his face.

I got back in the car slowly. I said nothing for a while. Just read my book. I knew strangers were looking. I looked up at one, and one came up to my door. She looked annoyed. Not much older than me.

I got out and looked at her, closing the door. "What is going on!? Is this some sort of abusive relationship?"

"What!? No, I wouldn't lay a finger on him!"

"Then what happened!"

"Ma'am, this guy has had a very rough day, his boyfriend broke up with him, and he's looking for a place to stay. I found him and bought him food. I didn't do anything!"

She looked at me with this 'oh' look, as the realization hit. I sighed, angry and got back in the car. The woman walked away.

"Liam?" Now, I'm not one of those idiots who ask, "Are you okay?" When they're OBVIOUSLY NOT. Like, damn! "I don't have a place to stay." He shot out through his tears.

"I'm so sorry, Liam."

He hiccuped and cried. I felt so bad. He's such a nice guy...DAMMIT HEART! FUCK OFF AND LEAVE MY BRAIN TO DO THE WORK!

Of course not. Why would my heart listen? I was not prepared for the words that left my mouth next.

Fuck my heart, and fuck my brain for not doing it's job.

1040 words.
