Chapter 15
It was decided since I was the teams captain that I had to play the game tomorrow, so instead of getting suspended off the team, I was given two weeks of after school detention.
It was so worth it.
The ride home was silent, as I stared out the window. Liam was confused, I haven't said anything since finding out what I found out. I looked out of the window with a frown. I should just give up on guys. All they do is hurt me.
"Are you gonna tell me what happened back there?" I debated if I should remain silent or say something. I shrugged,
"I punched her in the face, her nose broke. Blood was everywhere. I got two weeks of after school detention, and now we're here." Liam gave me a small frown, and then looked back at the road,
"Yeah I got that, what I mean is...why did you punch here?" I shrugged,
"She was annoying me." I know what you're thinking. Why don't you just tell your brother so he can kick Jonah's ass? Well, because I don't know the whole truth yet, and despite what just happened I don't want Jonah to die an early death. Because, Liam would kill him, if he found out.
"Mindy annoys everyone, but you don't see everyone else punching here." I shrugged again,
"I'm special." Then he pulled into the driveway,
"You got that right." We got out of the car, and then walked inside. I immediately walked upstairs, but I stopped on the last step. I turned towards Liam who was raising an expecting eyebrow. I cleared my throat,
"I don't want any...visitors. So, please...don't let anyone come up here." He slowly nodded, then gave me a concerned look,
"Christie, are you okay?" I nodded and gave him a small smile, even though on the inside I just wanted to cry my eyes out,
"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just tired. I'm going to bed, okay." He slowly nodded again. I turned back around and continued my journey towards my room. When I finally got inside, I shut the door and locked it. It wasn't until I laid down in bed, that the tears started to fall.
"Aren't you excited? The game is today." Mom said, giving me a bright smile. I gave her a small smile,
"I'm very excited, you guys are gonna be there, right?" She nodded,
"Of course, your dad wouldn't miss it. Is there something wrong? You've barely eaten your pancakes." I put a small piece in my mouth, and gave her a nod as I slowly chewed my food. After I swallowed I started to talk,
"I'm fine, just nervous." Mom laughed like what I said was just wrong,
"Nervous? You're the best soccer player I know. You could take on those girls with you legs tied." I laughed, actually laughed,
"Wow, mom. Then I wouldn't even be able to play." She rolled her eyes,
"You're looking into it too much, just know you're the best. And, you guys will win." I nodded, thinking less of him and more of the game. I couldn't even say his name in my head anymore.
"Let's go, kiddo." Liam said walking straight out the door. I waved bye towards my mom, and joined him outside. When I got into the car, I pulled on my seatbelt and sat back. Liam did the same then started the car, and then we we off.
It was when we were nearing the school that Liam decided to break the comfortable silence.
"So..," Liam started off hesitantly like he didn't want to scare me away, "I walked past your room last night, and I heard you crying." I stiffened, but kept my face emotionless, even though his eyes were on the road.
