THE walk back home is quiet. Too quiet for Taehyung's liking. But no matter how many attempts he makes to get a small conversation going, he is continuously shut down.
"Could you please tell me why you're upset?"
"I told you to drop it."
"Was there actually a meeting you had to go to?"
"Yes."
"Don't you think your studio could use a new heater?"
"I'm used to it."
"It's pretty nice out."
"Mhm."
"Hyung, look at those pretty lights!"
"Okay."
"Do you wanna go get something to eat?"
For the sixth time, Namjoon sighs tiredly as he aggressively rakes a hand through his hair. "No, Taehyung. Let's just get home before someone spots us. It's late."
Frowning, the younger lags behind and stares down at the ground, deciding to give up for now on speaking. He knew he was being such a bother anyway.
Here he was being an absolute nuisance when he should be quiet and respectful of his friend's space.
But he couldn't help but think that it wasn't fair. If he were any other member, would Namjoon be talking to him right now?
He slowly wraps his arms around himself and feels like disappearing.
When Namjoon notices the sudden quiet and lack of presence next to him, he bites the inside of his cheeks in rigor and stops, clasping his hands behind his back.
Turning around, he waits for the younger to reach him, his harsh gaze softening upon noticing Taehyung's slouched shoulders and pouting state. His chin was drooping so far it rested against his chest as he dragged his feet.
So once he's within close distance, unaware that the taller male had even noticed he was sulking, Namjoon reaches out and grasps Taehyung's hand, interlacing their fingers together to pull him forward to a moderate pace once more.
"We can go out to eat together tomorrow, yeah?" He simply says, staring ahead fixedly as their apartment comes into sight.
That's not why I'm upset. Taehyung wants to say, but he was too distracted by the way the leader was holding his hand to voice his thoughts.
