A/n: I might make myself cry with this one. So I know I'm talking a lot about Civil War. It's because I've watched it more than infinity. But um, you are Cap's daughter, and I'll leave it at that. also I'm changing the time line just small enough for it to be almost unnoticeable. Enjoy~!
(Pretty sad.)
"Dad, please I hate this as much as you, but if you don't sign the stupid act, you'll go to war with Uncle Tony and none of this will turn out the way you want." You try to reason. You knew he was determined, and you knew this might just get you in some trouble, but you still hated all the fighting and conflict in your very dysfunctional family.
"No, Y/n, that getting rid of my freedom. Everything I stand for. I can't just sign it!" He says, his voice steady, but still a normal volume. He has never raised his voice at you. Yes he was strict when it came to you doing something you're not supposed to, but he kept his cool, and talk to you civilized. Ha. Ironic.
"Well, you should of thought of that before you signed up for this. It is in your job description to give up your liberties and rights to protect other people and their's." You say calmly. He only shouted at you to get your attention, which gave you the same idea.
"Y/n, you are a teenager, you do not understand what this means." He says. You grit your teeth, almost growling out words, but you stop yourself.
"I do understand. I know exactly what this means. But is it really worth going to war against your own team? Against the people you've fought beside through almost everything?" You ask. You hated when people talked to you like you didn't know. You knew exactly what was happening.
"Y/n, you are only a teenager." His voice hardens a little more.
"Don't say that! That's just your excuse so I'll drop. I'm smarter than that and you know it." You say, crossing your arms.
The bickering continues, both keeping a calm voice, until he says something that shocks both of you.
"Good thing your mother isn't around to see what you've become!" He screams. Actually screams. He's never, ever raised his voice, and he hasn't mentioned your mother since you were eight or nine. You look at him in shock, before a scowl falls on your face and tears brim your water line. When he says your face, he knew he's fucked up. And he fucked up bad.
"Fine. Then you won't have to either." You say quietly, as you sprint out the door. You didn't know where you were going, or who could help you. Your Uncle Tony was who came to mind first, but that would make everything you don't want worse. You thought about trying to text your Uncle Clint, but he's on your dad's side. You think about calling anybody and everybody from your family. You thought Thor or Bruce would be the way to turn, but now that you think about it, you hadn't heard from them in a while. They're probably busy. You thought about calling Nick Fury for crying out loud!
You then realize who to talk to, you're best friend since middle school. Peter Parker. You walk to his aunt's apartment. Hugging yourself, as it was cold, and you had forgotten a jacket in your rush to leave.
You knock on the door, and Aunt May answers. She smiles when she sees who it is, it contorts to worry as she looks at the tears flowing down your face. They knew your secret. So you didn't have to hide from Aunt May or Peter or Uncle Ben, when he was still around. You were pretty much like their kid anyway. When your actual dad was on a mission, you'd usually come here and hang out with Peter. Because believe or not, assassins, gods, and scientists aren't that good with children.
"Y/n? Sweetie what happened?" She asks, pulling you into the house, and grabbing a blanket to wrap around your shoulders. You grip the blanket for dear life, and try to speak without your voice wavering.
"I got into a fight with my dad." You say, as your voice betrays you and cracks at the end.
"Oh sweetheart, sit down, and I'll make you some (hot drink) alright?" She says, kissing your forehead, and turning to the kitchen as you sit on the couch, and grab a few tissues to wipe your face.
She sits down and talks with you, you try to explain. But you can't bring yourself to do it. She sighs.
"Well, we always have a place for you to sleep, if you're not ready to go home." She smiles.
The door opens, and Peter walks in.
"Hey Aunt May." He says. He walks towards the living space, and notices you. "Hi Y/n."
"Hello Peter." You say, your voice still wobbly. His eyebrows furrow.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" He asks. You try to talk, but sigh in its place.
"Can we talk? In private?" You ask. He nods.
"Of course. Follow me." He says, leading you to his room. He shuts the door behind you, and before he can open his mouth again, you fall onto his chest, sobbing.
You explain what happened, and his jaw clenches, and you can tell, but all he does, is wrap his arms around you, and rubs his hand up and down your back, comfortingly.
"I know I didn't know her, but your mom would be very proud of who you are, and what you've become. You're amazing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." He says, you move your head from his chest to look up at him.
You stare into his chocolate eyes, they are swirling with anger, but a protective barrier of love surrounds it. You lean up and kiss his lips softly. He wasn't surprised and he kissed back. It was obvious you two liked each other, you were both just too shy to make a move until now.
"I love you Y/n. You are perfect, no matter what anyone says." He says.
"I love you too Peter."
