Sunday woke up on the first day of her travels with a renewed sense of spirit, ready to see her first solar eclipse. She was happy to take on the day for the first time in a long time. Her steps were light and carefree as she explored the ancient city of Athens. The first stop was the Acropolis, a great viewing spot.
She transversed the narrow city alleys with the confidence that the day would bring good things, even with the mass of people in town. And as she turned a corner she bumped into a young girl who was roughly the age that her daughter would be today.
"Can I help you?" asked the girl. "You are not from around here, and I can tell you will end up wasting your day on American tourist traps if I leave you to your own devices."
Sunday was taken aback by the girl's accent free English and her bold statement. Who was this spunky 6 year old and where were her parents she thought. "Its polite to introduce yourself. I am Sunday. And you are?"
Sunday said sarcastically."Beatrice, naturally."the girl said without skipping a beat. "Let me tell you something. You give me 10 dollars and I will take you to the best lunch you ever had. I am the American expert on Greece."
Sunday was not one for side road sales pitches, but there was something about this girl and her brazen attitude that made her want to follow.
"Okay, Beatrice. You can be my tour guide for the day. What do I have to lose?"
