Ace taught me how to ski, I fell a few times, but I got the hang of it. We went ice skating too, which I had never done before. It was our last day at the cabin. Bailey and I had gone shopping for groceries and one other item.
"This is crazy. We're always careful," I muttered. I paced back and forth with the small box in my hand.
Bailey sat on the edge of my bed. "Maybe a condom broke," Bailey murmured. "Just go take it."
"It says that it's best to do it in the morning," I argued.
"If you are, it will show up," Bailey argued.
Nobody had noticed Bailey and I's absence. The girls were busy downstairs, cooking dinner. The boys were in the basement playing poker.
"God, my dad is going to be pissed off," I said. I started to pace back and forth again.
Bailey sighed. "Your dad likes Ace."
I snorted. "Right, except that Dad threatened to castrate Ace if he got me pregnant."
"I'm sure your dad will forgive him. You're going to be eighteen in August anyway," Bailey said.
"That is still a long time from now, Bailey," I grumbled.
"Just get your ass in that bathroom and pee on the stick. I'm dying here," Bailey said and chuckled.
"Ace is going to be angry at me," I muttered. I held up the pregnancy test.
"He might not," Bailey said. "Get in there and take it before someone comes looking for us."
I sighed and went into the bathroom. Bailey was right. I had to take the test. Even if I didn't take the test, I wouldn't be able to make the pregnancy just go away. A baby wasn't on my agenda. I had enough to worry about with the Latin King stuff.
When I came out of the bathroom, Bailey was pacing back and forth. She stopped and looked at me. "Well?" Bailey asked.
"I don't know yet," I told her. "It said on the instructions to give it a few minutes."
We waited silently for three minutes.
"You check it," I murmured.
Bailey walked into the bathroom. She came back out with the stick in her hand.
"Well?" I asked worriedly.
"It's two pink lines, Aria. You're pregnant," Bailey murmured. She showed me the test.
My breathing accelerated. I ran my fingers through my hair. "Oh my god." I placed a hand over my heart, which was beating so fast that it felt like it would explode. "How am I going to tell him?" I whispered.
The bedroom door opened.
I snatched the test from Bailey and shoved it into my back pocket, and turned around. Bailey stood behind me and peeked over my shoulder.
Ace stopped and looked at us, confused. "What is going on?"
"Bailey was just going to do my hair," I lied.
Ace pursed his lips and shrugged. "Okay."
"We will be down soon," Bailey said.
Ace walked out and shut the door behind him.
I breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh my god. He never believes anything that I tell him. I can't believe he bought that."
