Epilogue: Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush

{Tally POV}

I heard an unfamiliar voice behind me as I helped Selina out of the car. “Selina?! Oh! Thank the Gods!” I turned, smiling as Selina ran past me and into the arms of a vampire it took me a second to recognise. Kuza looked from Selina to Chris and then to Ricky and me. “How’d you find her.”

“That little gift you gave her.” Chris chuckled, pulling the memory medallion from his pocket and handing it back to Selina. “Never go anywhere without it.”

“I won’t, and…” she smiled warmly at us all. “Thankyou…again.”

“Like we’d leave one of our own behind.” I pulled her into a brief hug.

“Speaking of…” I heard Ricky’s voice tighten slightly.

“Oh yeah,” I smiled as I stepped back. “It’s my turn.” I saluted Selina and Kuza. “Wish me luck guys…” as I turned back to the car with Ricky al called over my shoulder to them. “I’ll see you…on the other side.”

{Three months later…}

I smiled as Ricky walked into the briefing room, looking curiously at the two rogue vampires being escorted to our Rehabilitation cells…the Hunters and their trainees looking at Ricky and I with discomfort.

“I see the locals are…warming to you.” Ricky chuckled as he leant down to kiss me.

“Most of the old dogs are good at learning new tricks, and the trainees were trying to find a way of working with us anyway,” I sighed into his kiss, pulling back to look over the paperwork in front of me. “It’s only a few who still want, and I quote, every single one of us leeches dead.”

“Someone said that to you?” Ricky narrowed his eyes a little. “I’ll kill them.”

“Um…ma’am…” I looked up as I heard Harley’s voice and saw her looking worriedly at Ricky.

“He doesn’t mean it.” I waved the comment away. “And if he did I’d deny him for a month.” I looked pointedly at Ricky as he growled softly. “And, for the last time Harl…just call me Tally like you used to.” I leant back in my chair and raised an eyebrow at her as she nodded. “Good, now…what’s wrong?”

“It’s the fourth division…they’ve barricaded themselves in the level three blood withdrawal area and are killing the vampires trying to control their urges to feed…which isn’t going so well for either group considering there’s at least four corpses bleeding out on the floor-”

“I’ve heard enough,” I stated, standing and marching around the briefing table and out into the corridor, picking up two stakes and a dart gun as I headed past a weapons bay. Kitted out I gestured for Harley to lead the way. She faltered and I sighed, “Seriously? You kick major ass and-” I stopped,  and when I heard the sound echoing down the corridor…I no longer blamed her for pausing. “Alright, Harley, I want you to go gear up and get the rest of your force...go on! Scram!”

As she ran back the way we’d come, Ricky and I headed towards the sounds of gunfire and screaming; darting through the blind shots fired at us as I went to the new Head Hunter I’d chosen. “I thought you said this would be easy?!” Dave yelled as he fired round the corner.

“I said ‘easier than Afghanistan’!” I smirked and he smiled a little. “What’s happening? Apparently fourth Division is behind this one…”

“Not the whole division…just Samuels, Redfern, Carter, and James…they took out four of their own for refusing to fire on us, and the smell of blood-”

“Sent the free vamps into a frenzy. Got it.” Ricky shouted over the gunfire before looking at me and nodding towards the barricade. “Ready?!”

I smiled and cocked the gun in my hand; my eyes narrowing as we jumped the barricade. “Here we go again!”
