Chapter 9

Lachlan's Pov

Life seemed to continue on in slow motion, his kiss felt like years I was lost in. Then time speeded up and I couldn't stop him. Preston fell to the floor with a thud. I looked in shock at my father who grinned at me. He started landing kicks into Preston's stomach and he looked a bit drunk.

"STOP!"

I screamed and jumped off of the couch making all the ice packs fall to the ground. I winced from the sudden temperature change on my belly but there were more important things happening. My dad stopped and Preston wasted no time kicking his foot out making my dad fall over, he hit his head on the coffee table and went out cold.

Preston leaped to his feet like nothing happened and walked over to my unconscious dad. He kneeled down and whispered something in his ear, his face showed he was furious and hurt.

"Come on, you guys can stay at my house"

He smiled, by the racket mum had come back into the lounge room. She looked oh the verge of tears.

Preston's Pov

I whispered into Lachlan's dad's ear.

"How dare you hurt a beautiful, smart, amazing person. I hope you die in a fire."

I said with as much hatred as I could. The truth was I felt like crying. My sides hurt from the kicks and my face would have a bruise on it tomorrow. I looked over at Lachlan who seemed worried and scared.

"Come on let's go."

I fake smiled and took Lachlan's hand. In his other hand he grabbed his mum and we walked to my house in silence. Once we arrived I let them sit in the lounge room while I talked to my mum. I told her what they went through and of cause, this is my mum we are talking about. She said they could stay as long as they need.

I introduced my mum to Lachlan and his mum, who I learnt her name is Georgia ( I made it up! ) mum went back into the kitchen to make some food for us. Lachlan and his mum were sitting on the couch together. His mum shuffled over to her and hugged him. She cried into his chest and hugged him. He hugged her back and tears were in his eyes. I felt so guilty, for all the families out there who had to put up with things like this. Not just abuse but terror and anger.

"We did it Lachlan, we did it"

Lachlan's mum sobbed into his chest.
