Thomas's POV

I was at a dead end. In my mid-twenty's, and I couldn't find a good acting job after The Maze Runner.

Still, I had lasting friendships that could pay off in another way. Dylan O'Brien, one of the funniest guys you will ever meet, had just told me of a project he was working on in America, that needed a certain British blonde.

Instantly, I accepted. Something was telling me I wouldn't regret it. I felt as if it was my last chance, so I got the first flight to LA.

I met up with Dylan and we had lunch together. And now we were headed to the auditions.

Honestly, my nerves were just as bad as the first time I ever auditioned.

. . .

"C'mon man! You'll do fine, and a perfect opportunity to get out of your type casting," Dylan says, patting me on the back.

It's true. I've always played the good little boy or the reliable companion.

This role deals with complicated themes that even gave me chills. But Dylan was right, and I couldn't pass this up.

"You even have a love interest," Dylan says, wiggling his eyebrows and emphasizing the word love.

I roll my eyes at his immaturity.

"Her name's Y/N," Dylan says, "and she's really h-" Dylan cuts himself off when a girl runs out from behind a black screen wall and moves towards us.

She sees Dylan and a small smile tugs her lips.

"Dylan? Hey," she says walking towards us.

Dylan nudges me in my side, I glare back at him. But the girl is now in front of us.

"Sorry If I scared you, I have all this crazy makeup on from the shoot," she says trying to read my eyes for emotions.

"Y/N, this is Thomas Sangster, he's gonna be auditioning for the part of Eric," Dylan points out.

"Y/N, this is Thomas Sangster, he's gonna be auditioning for the part of Eric," Dylan points out

"Nervous?" she asks, I fight the sense to admit it, but instead I send her a small nod.

"I was too, still not sure if I can go through with some of the dark scenes," Y/N admits, biting her lip softly.

"Well, I think he'll do great, that's why I brought him here all the way from England!" Dylan exclaims, throwing his arm around me.

I watch as Y/N's face lights up with excitement, her mouth wides and then shapes into a smile, "Really!? That's so cool!"

I feel a heat brought to my cheeks, but I fight the blush, nodding at her again.

"Wait, can-can I hear you accent?" she asks, slightly scared I'll be offended. That was adorable.

I gulp down before I speak, slightly nervous to open my mouth, afraid she will be less impressed, "Of course, love," I say.

My eyes widen at the fact that I just called her 'love' . I've never called anyone that before. Except my past girlfriend Isabella.

And now, I was calling a total stranger.

She smiles at me again, we lock eyes for about 30 seconds. But our gaze is broken when some hands wrap around her torso and she lets out a soft gasp.

Quickly, I step forward, about to kill this guy who touches her like that, until she says his name, indicating she knows him.

"Jack! Oh my god! Don't do that!" she exclaims.

"Oh c'mon, I should be able to touch my girlfriend," Jack retaliates.

My heart shatters, I practically hear it break.

She has a boyfriend. And one that clearly doesn't respect her!

No, no. I shouldn't be assuming that.

"Who are ya talking to?" he asks, slightly irritated.

"Um this is my cast mate Dylan, and future cast mate Thomas," she says, winking at me.

As if the small gesture of kindness set him off, he grabbed Y/N's wrist, she bit her lip, hard, trying to mute a whimper.

It is clear that Jack forgot we were here, because he loosened his grip when his eyes met with an angry Dylan.

"I need to talk with you," he whispers, but his words are harsh, and I noticed Y/N flinch when he begins.

"Bye guys," she says. Then Jack drags her away.
