Hi there, what do you see?
You see a guy, alone at the beach.
He seems thoughtful, yet somehow sad.
So you go up to him, and touch his hand.
He’s startled, looking at you scared.
And that’s when you see, his eyes hold fear.
You notice he’s shaking, his body’s cold.
He wants to say something, so you release your hold.
He cradles his hand, close to his chest.
And that’s when you see the scar, white and small, like the rest.
You look at him, to see him already staring at you,
And that’s when you notice, his eyes are bright blue.
But they’re shimmering, with unshed tears.
So you say nothing, but showed him that you cared.
You took his hand, and led him into the sea.
He’s not looking at you, so you say, “Look at me.”
He refuses, not wanting to let you see him cry.
So you sigh and say
“Look at me. I’m here for you.
We’re strangers but that’s okay too.
Here’s my shoulder, lay your head and cry.
Until your heart is better, and your eyes are dry.”
That’s when it happens, he listens to you.
You rub his back and tell him
“It’s okay. I understand, that it’s not only girls. Boys hurt too.”
