*Michael's POV*
i had been sitting on the couch for a while now. my drink was gone, my phone was dead, and i had to go pee. i got up to look for the bathroom, walking through rooms of drunk people and strong stenches of alcohol. as i walked through the kitchen, i got pinned to the refrigerator by this girl with light brown hair and warm green eyes. she was beautiful, but extremely drunk. she had whispered something in my ear and started to tug at my sweater, and then i pushed her off of me. i was on a mission to find the bathroom, not to have sex with someone in the kitchen.
i finally just went upstairs to find a bathroom because it seemed as if there was no existing one downstairs. i finally found the bathroom and sighed in relief. after washing my hands and drying them, i turned the light off and walked out. on my way back down the stairs i had finally ran into Jake. this whole night i hadn't seen him once.
"Hey!!" Jake yelled over the loud music.
"hi, how are you?" i tried to yell back but my voice cracked at the end.
"i'm doing greeeeaatt," he put his arm around my shoulder and started dancing with me to the music playing. i think the song was called "Under The Bridge" but it was definitely a remix because the original song was not this crazy.
"are you drunk?" i laughed, lightly pushing him off me.
"noooo," he was struggling to stand up straight. there's no way he wasn't drunk.
"Jake, let's go get some water, and i think you should just sit down for a little bit," i didn't want him to get hurt or sick. after all, he was the only familiar face i had seen tonight.
"Michael seriously, i'm good. i'll come find you if i need help," he told me. i could see the truth in his eyes. though i hated to just walk away, that's what i did.
"okay, just be careful with what you drink, and don't party to hard!" i smiled at him, and he smiled back.
when i walked back downstairs i was making my way back to my spot on the couch. i had seen the girl who had pinned me to the fridge earlier, and she was making out with a guy who looked a hell of a lot like my friend Luke. but i double checked, it definitely wasn't Luke. he just looked like him.
finally making it back into the room i had been sitting in for the last two hours, i realized someone was sitting in my seat. i just kinda stood there, but then i realized. i knew this person. she had long dark hair with slight waves at the bottom. her skin was pale, but had a nice glow to it. she was considerably short, maybe 5'3"? she wore a black jean skirt with a yellow sweater, and she had combat boots on her feet. i knew this girl from somewhere. where was she from?! i thought to myself.
then i remembered, she was in my music class at school. i do not remember her name, but i started to walk towards her. i approached her and smiled, and she smiled back. i think she recognized me.
"hi," i did my cute little wave thing i do.
"hey, you're in music with me at school, right?" she asked.
"yes, i'm Michael Clifford," i smiled, once again.
"hi, Michael," she giggled and smiled really big, "i'm Violet Anderson."
"well it's very nice to meet you, Violet Anderson," i emphasized her name and looked straight into her eyes. she looked straight into mine. her eyes were a deep blue, almost like the deep ocean. i could practically see the fish swimming in her eyes.
she laughed once again. her laugh was so adorable, and after it always came a beautiful smile. we had talked about music, and i had learned that she also plays guitar. she had played since she was 6 years old, and her dad taught her.
"do you play any other instruments?" i asked her.
"actually i'm currently learning how to play bass guitar," she smiled, "it's actually really fun!"
"that's so cool! i have a friend who plays the bass, he loves it," i told her.
she smiled, "i personally think it's better than guitar. it's a lot more fun."
"i mean, i will also be pro guitar," i laughed, "but i don't know, i never see myself getting into bass. it's just not an instrument i would see myself playing."
we had talked a little more about the pros and cons to bass guitar, but after a while her facial expressions started to change. as if i was offending her. how could i be? we were just having a friendly conversation about guitars.
our hands at been somewhat interlocked and she had tangled her legs into mine. but then after i told her that bass guitar wasn't my thing, she suddenly shifted away.
"hey, is everything okay? i didn't mean to make you upset," i touch her thigh.
"no i'm fine, just get your hands off me!" she somewhat yelled, pushing my hand off of her.
"hey, violet, i'm sorry. i didn't mean to make you upset!" i looked at her, but she just looked so angry, so i looked away.
"i don't want to hear dumb lies. you're not really sorry. you just want me for sex!" this time she yelled really loud, making some people look over in concern. this didn't make any sense, where was she getting all of his information?
"violet, that's not true. i just wanted to have a conversation with you, i'd been sitting alone this whole night. seeing a familiar face was just so welcoming for me. i thought you would enjoy a conversation with me," i had felt tears coming on. why was i about to cry? i had talked to this girl a total of 2 times? why did i want to cry?
"you know what Michael? go talk to some other 'familiar face'. there's no way that i'm the only person in this house that you know. go talk to someone else about how much you don't like their interests, and then let me know how it goes. but for right now, stay away from me," she was yelling, and then she wasn't. she was crying. she was standing there crying, and then she wasn't. she had left. she ran out of the house.
it had seemed as if everyone was staring at me. their hateful eyes judging my every move. my eyes were blurred with tears as i stood up and stared at the open door. i'll be okay, i thought. just go home and go to sleep. but it wasn't as simple as that. i walked out of the house and got into my car. i rested my hands on the steering wheel, but my face fell forward into it. after realizing that i had almost made another friend, my tears seemed as if they would never end.

A/N - sorry this chapter is a bit long, but i just wanted to get to the tea. i could have drawn this out more, but the real story comes in after this fight, hence the title. i hope you all are enjoying the first few chapter so far! love you all:) -L
