Story time

*•.•* chapter three *•.•*

Once a month we travel into the nearby village to get fresh water from the well. We obviously hide our wolf sides, I don't really like it that much because the villagers usually whisper about us. Whenever they ask about us I always say the same thing 'we live in the forest with our parents who work on a farm while we do other chores'. I couldn't tell them we didn't have parents because they would probably separate us. Luna isn't old enough to be on her own so they would send her to an orphanage and shadow and me to jobs.
I held a bucket with Luna as we walked into town, shadow decided he'd try to bargain with the baker to get us at least one loaf of bread while Luna and I collected the water.
We stopped at the well when we heard shouting, we stopped and looked around when we heard a loud explosion. I heard screams and cries as we both fell to the ground, I pushed myself up and pulled up Luna "oh no. SHADOW! SHADOW!" Luna held onto me tightly as we both yelled out for shadow "THERE!" Luna yells pointing out shadow who starting running towards us "shadow?! What's going on?!" I say as he pulls us into a run "attackers! We have to go now!" He says, we start sprinting out of the village as fire starts to burn it down.
We run towards the house, we hear the attackers coming after us. "Shadow! We can't stop here! We have to keep on running! We have to leave it!" I yell, he goes to argue but nods. I turn around to see Luna but she's not with us. "Luna? LUNA?!" I look around terrorfied when I see her sprint into the house "LUNA NO!" I hear shadow yell as he chases after her, I sprint after them as the attackers come closer. I run in to see the house already starting to burn, I panic then I see Luna and shadow in the bedroom. I run in "GUYS! WE HAVE TO GET OUT!" Luna has tears streaming down her face, I pull her up and shadow starts running out. I follow pulling Luna, we bolt for what seems like hours until we stop on a hill. We catch her breath, suddenly I see shadow's eyes fill with rage. He grabs Luna "WHY THE HECK DID YOU GO BACK?!" He yells, she looks at him and hugs him "I'm sorry! I had to save it! I'm sorry!" She says, his anger melts away "you had to get what?" He asks, she holds out a necklace with three stone on it each with a different coloured painted sign on it. Our signs. It was our necklace. I stare at it but then I look out in the distance...the home that we lived at for most of our lives...where we made memories and became a pack...was in flames.
