Before I knew it I was in Brooklyn staring up at another tall building. However this one was an apartment building.

"Where are we?"

"A friend's house." Pepper responded as she got out of the car. "Happy stay here I'll be back soon."

We walked into the building and I almost smiled. There was no elevator man. I had to press the buttons myself. Looks like the life of luxury was over for now. The elevator creaked as we approached floor 12. Upon the doors opening Pepper marched with purpose to a door at the end of a hallway. She knocked 3 times and waited. I heard the door behind me open and turned around to see a blonde lady in scrubs peeking out. Her hand was held behind her back and she stared at me for awhile before turning her gaze to Pepper. Upon seeing her she seemed to relax and closed the door again. Weird. I turned back to the door just as it opened. I couldn't really see who it was because Pepper was blocking me. I peeked my head around her slightly and was greeted by a large man. No not large as in fat. This man was tall and built. Short blonde hair with a slight spike to it in the front and bright blue eyes. He had on a loose gray T-shirt but you could still see his muscles ripple with even the slightest movement.

"Pepper?" The look on his face could only be described as that of a confused puppy.

"Hey Steve. Look we have an issue."

The man- Steve - turned his gaze to me and even more confusion entered his eyes.

"Not her," Pepper says curtly bringing his attention back to her. "Tony."

"I think you should come in."

I was about to enter with them when I realized my phone was missing.

"Pepper?" She turned around quickly. "I left my phone in the car."

She nodded. "Okay go get it."

I quickly made my way down and opened the door to the car. Happy glanced at me through the mirror.

"What are you doing back here kid?"

"I forgot my phone."

"Check between the seats. Can't tell you how many times Tony has-" Happy stopped.

"Hey," I said softly. "You can say his name. It's not that big of a deal. I'm used to people not wanting me around."

I saw a glimpse of silver between the seat cushions and grabbed it.

"Look kid, I don't know you that much. But I read your file. You've had a rough life so far. I mean your dad is Tony Stark-"

I snorted slightly.

Happy smirked a little then his voice became softer.

"and you're mom...kid I'm so sorry you had to grow up with that-"

"No. No you don't get to talk about my mom," I said growing defensive.

"Kid I didn't mean-"
Happy tried to back track but it was too late.

"No just shut up! Don't talk about her." April snapped. "She wasn't the greatest parent yeah I get it! But at least she was there. She was in my life. Without having to be forced."

I slammed the door shut behind me and began to stalk towards the elevator. Upon entering I froze. Crap. What floor was I supposed to be going to? Just as the doors began to close a hand stopped them. I glanced up and recognized the blonde lady that walked in.  She was Steve's neighbor. Sweet now all I have to do is play it cool and let her do the work. She smiled at me as she shifted her laundry basket.

"Hi sweetie what's your name?"

"April."

"Well it's very nice to meet you. I'm Sharon."
