Back then, it was just me, mommy, daddy and Charlotte. Mommy and Daddy loved each other very much. They even worked in the same building.
You could almost never see Mommy without Daddy by her side. They were MommyDaddy. When Charlotte and I were about six years old in the summertime, we couldnt wait for first grade to begin. We are twin sisters who never separate. Nobody except us can tell the difference between us.
Always calling Charlotte "Jinara" and me "Charlotte." Rarely calling the correct twin. "Jinara! Hurry up! Come over here!" Called Charlotte in her squeaky six year old voice. I scrambled over. MommyDaddy quickly became Mommy, where's Daddy?
As soon as I ran over, I heard Mommy cry out. "I am trying to help you Herbert! Charlotte and Jinara need you! I need you!" Charlotte and I quickly but quietly went behind the stairwell to listen. Daddy slapped Mommy right across the face with a hard slapping sound. Charlotte and I started crying.
"Daddy... No... Stop it Daddy..." I whispered. I heard Mommy cry out again. So Charlotte and I snuck out the back door and went to our neighbors house. We pounded on the door and rang the doorbell until Mrs. Clark came to the door, mighty confused.
"Dears, shouldnt you be in bed? Its 12 o'clock in the morning. Are you girls okay?" Charlotte and I tried to explain through bowls, but Mrs. Clark couldnt understand us. So we wiped our tears away.
"We just saw Daddy attack Mommy" I said. "He slapped her right across the face really hard!" Charlotte explained. Then we both slapped our hands together to show her what we meant. "I KNEW there were problems going on. Is your Mommy bleeding?" We both nodded and started crying again.
Mrs. Clark pulled out her phone and made a call. Soon, some flashing red lights came and a man took Daddy. We never saw him again. Mommy ran out and hugged us as tight as possible. We all were crying.
"Dont cry girls, dont cry. You did a good job." She said, not letting us go. "Mommy, why are those lights stealing Daddy away?" I asked. She pulled away and looked me right in the eyes.
"They are... They are gonna take Daddy to find a new house to live in." She said. "Good." Said Charlotte. "Daddy yells a lot." We all smiled and hugged each other. "You were good girls tonight" said mommy. She sniffed. "Thank you."
