"Open your books. I want you to start your journal entries. Every day, you keep a diary and write what you did and what you're doing on that day. You too boys. Now, This project will go from now and into the end of the year. Get started! This is an 80 point project!" The english teacher, Mrs. Smith says. I quickly open up my diary to get started.

September 5th 2007.

First day of school. But what did I do this summer? Well! Where do I even begin? My twin sister/best friend Charlotte and I went out all around town on our own because we finally got cell phones! We went to the ice cream parlor pretty much every day since we got them. The cell phones I mean. We also adopted an older sister who has DPD. Do you know what that is? Its when she's fifteen years old but she acts like she's... well... a four year old learning to use proper sentences. She stays with mom a lot. It's okay though. I have my sister Charlotte! That's what I did this Summer. How was your Summer?

I stood back and looked at the entry very proud. Charlotte tapped my shoulder behind me. "Hey! Jinn! Wanna read mine? I wanna read yours!" She whispered. I nodded and we swapped. I open up to the very first page of her "Diary."

I had a BLAST this Summer! My twin sister Jinara and I finally got our own cell phones SQUEE! Awesome! SO super duper excited to test it out many times with my friends. Also to get pizza. To me, this Diary thing is a great idea. Who wouldn't wanna write about things that happened? Perhaps a memory will get foggy while we are telling our children a story or something. But, I did really have fun this SUmmer. Jinara and I got a new big sister and she's very pretty! It doesn't seem like she's the big sister most of the time though. It's not her fault. She has DPD. Jinara and I are best friends though! We got to walk around town BY OURSELVES and we went to the ice cream parlor many times! SO much, the guy who works there, Dan, knows our names AND he is the only person in the world who can easily tell us apart. It's so cool. ANYway that was my fun SUmmer. How was yours?

I give Charlotte a thumbs up. "Same topic." I whisper, and she nods. "OKAY! Everyone, put down your pencils! It's time for partner work!" Mrs. Smith yells. "You may not pick your partners though. I will." "WHAT?!" A ton of people shout. Charlotte passes me a small piece of paper. I'm not worried. Mom set up with all of our teachers so we will be partners. I breathed a sigh of relief. Oh good. I can't wait then! She nods. Mrs. Smith claps her hands.

"Okay! So, I'll pick names out of a hat! So.. John and Alyssa..." Everyone "ooooohs" at the pair as they sit down next to each other. She calls a lot of other names, and finally it's just me, Charlotte and 6 other kids.

"Okay! So, let's see... Jinara and..." She pulls a name out of the hat. What for? I wonder. Didn't Mom set it up so Charlotte and I always work together? "Lanette!" She calls. I freeze. "Um, excuse me Mrs. Smith?" I ask. She frowns. "Your not getting upset over your partner choice are you?" She asks. "Oh, no!" I start. "I'm sure Lenenn is a great partner-"

"Lanette." A girl says coldly as she stands up and lets out a big huff as she sits next to me. Charlotte got a very nice girl named Anasia. I let out a big breath. "We'll talk to the teacher after class." Charlotte reassures me as the bell rings.

We both go up to the teacher. "Um, hi, I'm Charlotte, this is Jinara. We are a bit confused here..." Charlotte starts. "Oh yes! The twins! So wonderful how a mother can make two children and have them look exactly alike. So! What seems to be the trouble girls?" Mrs. Smith asks us with a smile. "Um, I believe our mother called all of our teachers and specifically said Charlotte and I are to be working together for everything. It's just easier for us, because, well, we live in the same house and we have the same exact schedule..." I explained.

Thank goodness Mrs. Smith seems super nice. "Well, yes, but girls, it's the first day of school, you'd think everyone would want to get to know everyone, correct?" Mrs. Smith asks. "Um, yes, but-" She cuts me off again. "So, it won't be a problem for you to work with another kid for one project will it? I got your mother's call last minute, so I assure you, you may work together always, but just work with your assigned partners for right now, just because we don't want to hurt their feelings now, do we?" She asked. "No. But thank you." Charlotte says. So we just left.
