Life it is said continues. Well life continued and the two ladies are already preparing to go for their mid semester break and because they all have a lot on their heads, they have no option but to go home.
Inna's long time boyfriend Gidado wants to make it official. So they need to start preparing as the wedding will be immediately after their session exams and they wont go home again till after the exams.
Little did Diddi know that this little event will bring change to her life, negative or positive? only time shall tell.
They received the to be grooms family who brought sweets, chewing gum, kolanut and some cash to ask for Inna's hand in marriage and also fix a date for the wedding. As it is according to tradition, when they(the grooms relatives) are about to leave after setting the date, the brides family normally package some snacks and drinks for them. Inna being the last born has no junior brother or sister so, her friend volunteered to escort them(the grooms family) with some of the gifts to the car.
"Where will I keep it" she said calmly to the man behind her not knowing which car to keep the trays of wrapped samosa and spring rolls she's holding. "Let me open this car so you wont get tired of waiting for them. They are standing near the gate discussing about God knows what" the man holding a carton of faro table water said smiling.
As he opened the boot she kept the snacks saying "Allah horu mon jam yaru amin yende bangal man"(safe journey and may we witness the wedding day). She turned to leave when he said "aameen.
I am the grooms uncle. You?" she hesitated before replying "the brides sister, Zainab" and went forward to enter her fathers house where her friend is.
"I cant believe I am getting married, as in how old am I sef?" Inna kept talking nonstop while her friend kept quite thinking about her own wedding and how she was excited about it that time, the day her wedding date was fixed she couldn't even sleep that night. "Hey Missus I am still here!" an angry looking Inna shouted .
"Amarya baki laifi am already thinking of how to plan the wedding ne" she lied and well it earned her a large grin from the happy bride to be.
Diddi is very happy for her friend. Though, deep inside she is afraid for her friend, she hopes Gidado wont be a bad husband even though he is a very good man, "more than Hamma Haydar. In fact far better than him" her subconscious added.
*******
Diddi went to answer her fathers call that night. She has always been afraid of him because he is a no nonsense man even though she knows the love he has for them is incomparable to any other love.
"Zainabu! your mother told me the decision you made and I want to tell you that no one will force you to do what you don't want. I want you to think about it again. Pray hard and perform the istikhara" he said keeping the newspaper he was holding aside.
"I want you to make the best decision for yourself. We will understand that whatever you decide is what you think or hope will be best for you and we pray it will in shaa Allah be the best.
I also want you to know that Haydar is a changed person. I myself can testify to that.
Your Goggo told me that you are avoiding her and she doesn't want that to happen. Your decision is going to be final, none of us will force you again.
Allah wanne barka dada danejo am, hokke sa'a jangirde( May Allah bless you my dear and may He Bless your studies) he concluded and she answered the du'a.
She knew he was done talking because one thing with her father is he finish whatever conversation he is having with a prayer.
She bade him goodnight and went to her room. She doesn't need to think before knowing that her decision is final but she doesn't want to be on her fathers "other side" by saying she has made the final decision.
****
Zainab Diddi enjoyed her mid semester break. She got enough time to bond with her siblings as her Goggo went to perform the lesser hajj(umrah) so she stayed in her parents house. She visited their relatives in Fufore, Dasin and Girei.
Diddi received a call from their class rep telling her of the test they'll be having the next day. She became worried because she cant make it. They'll be leaving in three days time. Her Goggo is coming back tomorrow so she wants to stay and welcome her since the woman is already complaining that she's ignoring her and well its not a lie, she suddenly is shy of her.
Diddi feels bad because she knows Goggo wants them(Haydar and Diddi) together really bad but she has to be selfish this time around. "There's no harm in self love" she encouraged herself.
The bigger issue disturbing her now is not even Goggo or Haydar its about this lecturer. The man doesn't give make up and he warned them before that his test would be after the break but she never thought it would be this close.
She decided to tell her father so that even if she carry over the course he'll know its not because she didn't study well. Her father hates failure in terms of education be it western or Islamic. He believes they have everything so there's no reason not to study hard.

The Department of Mass Communication looks busy. Some students are shouting, some smiling, others trying to climb the desk to check their first semester result which was pasted twenty minutes back.
Zainab Diddi is not concerned about the result even though she's eager to know whether she cleared everything or not. Her major concern is on meeting the lecturer whom she missed his test. She saw him going to his office and decided to follow him since her friend Khadija said she'll struggle to climb the desk and check the result for them.
On reaching the office door, she started praying because she knows the man will insult her and her entire generation but her father encouraged her to go and try her best though he warned her not to go alone because "not all of them are good people". 'Ones face can deceive" he added when she tried to defend the lecturer.
He might be 'wicked' but he is also decent and religious. With her shaky hands she knocked the door and he answered "come in".
Finally, here comes another chapter. Sorry for the delay. One or two things happened. I wanted to update yesterday since it was my birthday but well we are in Nigeria and my battery ran down.
So what do you think will happen in the office? Do we like the new grooms Uncle and the yet to be seen lecturer?
Let me know your opinion please.
