New school. New me. That's how it should be, right?
Yea. Definitely. One hundred per-freaking-cent.
These are some thoughts that ran through my head as I entered the doors of the unordinarily small school. I hadn't seen much of it when I got the tour last week, but I knew it was smaller than my last school. More people to know each other to gossip about you. Fun.
I sighed, keeping my head down as I made my way to my homeroom. I arrived early so I didn't have to walk right in and deal with the 'oh, new one, introduce yourself with uninteresting facts that no one wants to hear!' Luckily, it seemed to work, since only one other person was in the room, which happened to not be the teacher.
"Uh..." I awkwardly shifted in my place, looking around at the desks. I realized I had no idea what seats were already "taken," since it was November; not the beginning of the year.
"Where to sit, where to sit...." I mumbled to myself. The hot guy sitting in the middle seemed to actually notice me, as he jumped in his seat.
"Jesus! When the fuck did you get there?" he exclaimed. I looked around, my heartbeat speeding up as my anxiousness increased.
"Um, uh, I just got here. D-do you possibly know where I can sit?" Oh that sounded so stupid. He's gonna think I'm weird and never talk to me again. I hope he couldn't hear the-
"Yea, the seat behind me is empty most of the time."
"O-oh, okay. Thank you." I quickly fumbled down the aisle, dropping my bag at the seat and sitting behind him. I shrank in my seat as more people entered the classroom. Some people gave me strange looks, while others completely ignored me, but no one said anything to me. I liked it better that way.
"Hello, class. I'll do attendance in a second. Let me just-" the teacher walked to her desk and plopped a rather tall pile of papers and folders onto it. She then put her purse down, took her jacket off, placed it on the back of her chair, and sighed.
"Alright, good morning everyone. Let me just take attendance real quick." She grabbed a paper off of her desk and began running through the list. She reached my name and looked up immediately, scanning everyone until her eyes landed on me. Here we go. "Oh! We have a new student, it seems. Hello, Noah. Why don't you stand up and say a few things about yourself. Where you're from, things you like."
I stood up shakily, taking a deep breath. A few kids were staring at me. Some with careless looks, others with curious looks, yet others with amusement. Some didn't look at all.
"I-I'm Noah Carperton. I used to live in New Jersey near the coast until, um, m-my mom lost her job and found another one near here. My- er, I have a little sister named Eloise, and, uh, yeah." I sat back down quickly, not making eye contact with anyone and instead looking at my desk. I heard a few snickers from random kids and my face flushed. Don't let them get to you. Not now.
The bell rang, and I quickly picked up my bag and walked quickly out of the room. English: my first class of the day. Hopefully everything doesn't turn out to be too horrible.

"Hey! New kid!" I winced as I heard someone call to me. I was just trying to get to the library, but their footsteps were quickly approaching. I turned around slowly, praying it was a good person and not a dickbag.
"Hiya. I'm Henry! I thought you might need a seat at lunch, since you're new and I don't see anyone else talking to ya."
"Oh, um, sure. I'm Noah," I responded quietly.
"Cool! Let's go, I'll introduce you to my friends. We're all pretty chill, but watch out for Clara. She seems a little crazy at first." Henry grabbed my arm and started running, tugging me along into the crowded cafeteria. We finally stopped at a table in the corner and Henry let go of my arm.. Five people turned to look at us.
"Henry you really need to stop recruiting new people."
"Ooh, Henry brought a new friend!" A girl with bright pink hair dropped her plate on the table and jogged over to us. "What's your name? How old are you? What grade are you in? Where'd you come from? Oh nevermind. I'm Clara!" She stuck her hand out at me. I slowly shook it, not sure of her or the others. Will they hate me? Can they tell? What happens if it gets out?
"Calm down, Clara. This is Noah, he'll be sitting with us. You know, if you'd stop scaring him." Henry looked back at me, motioning for me to sit. I did so cautiously.
"Okay, before you get bombarded, let me introduce everyone. On that end of the table from left to right is Rachel, Clara, Brendon, and Adaline. The two next to me are Carlos and Damien. Oh, and before I forget, Clara and Rachel are dating. So are Damien and Carlos." A little weight seemed to be lifted.
"So, you guys are..."
"I'm pansexual!" Clara announced. Rachel, a rather pretty dark skinned girl with curly hair parted to one side, the other side shaved said "Same."
"We're gay," Damien commented. Him and Carlos had black hair, but Carlos's was short and spiky while Damien's was grown out a little bit, parted to the left. Damien had a blue button up shirt on with small white details I couldn't make out. Carlos had a plain black shirt on with dark blue jeans.
"I'm aroace. Or for the ignorant, aromantic asexual," Adaline spoke up. Her hair was cut short, almost like a bob, and the right side was shaved. She wore mostly black, a Panic! at the Disco hoodie only holding a bit of color.
"I'm bisexual." Brendon had a rather feminine voice, and his clothes were interesting, to say the least: a pastel purple (lilac?) jumper with white skinny jeans. A matching purple flower crown sat on his curly blonde hair.
"And I'm the only straight person here." Henry laughed to himself before sighing. He had curly brown hair that sat on his head messily, nearing his eyes. "So, what're you? I mean, you don't have to say, it's chill."
"Oh, um, I-I'm bi." I looked down at the table.
"Dammit! I'm still the only straight person here!" Everyone laughed, and I joined in. Clara quickly started small talk, and everyone joined in.
Maybe it won't be too bad here, I decided.
//Hey there! This is my first official not-fanfiction story so by any means, criticize as much as you'd like! I want to know all the good and bad to make it better. I won't have many A/n's, so don't worry about this being a normal thing. I won't really have a schedule of updating, since school gets in the way sometimes. I will update as much as possible though! I hope you guys like it so far. Keep reading and peace out!//
