Naomi's P.O.V
Bree sat on the steps next to my apartment door.
"Why didn't you just call me?"
"I did call you."
"Oh, I didn't notice that." I took out my phone, sure enough, there was a missed call from Bree.
She stared at me for a few seconds before standing up.
"Kay, Kay."
---
I connected my Bluetooth speaker and blared music throughout the apartment.
Gretta and Bree danced around my living room while I made washed the dinner dishes.
When they were done, I turned off the music and grabbed my friends arms.
"What are you doing?" Gretta asked suspiciously.
"We're going outside." Bree and Gretta smiled and followed me outside.
Once outside, I went to the shed they owners kept in the backyard and brought out some dodgeballs.
"Alright girls, this is a matter of hit, or be hit. A matter of war between the three of us. I expect you both to be civilized and fair. Oh, and watch out for Mr. Louini's windows."
I pointed to the house behind the apartment buildings.
Mr. Louini was an eighty-something-year-old man who I became great friends with over the time that I've lived here.
Sometimes I cook dinner for us and eat with him. We play cards and overall just hang out.
He's really nice. He tells me stories of his youth. Sometimes I feel really bad for him, his husband died in the war, he'd been alone till I came along."
Gretta and Bree looked at the house and nodded.
"Good, now. Fight!" I threw a couple of balls into the area and dropped the bag, running to grab one.
As soon as my watch turned to 9:30, we began an intense game of dodgeball. Gretta was way too fast for any of us to hit her.
She weaved in and out of our attempted attacks.
"Ha! You'll never catch me!" She yelled and threw a dodgeball in my direction.
"One of these times I'll get you!" I yelled back.
"Just tr-" Bree hit her in the back. Her jaw dropped.
"Why you little-"
"Just get down Gretta," Bree said. Gretta huffed and laid down on the ground.
It was between me and Bree now.
"Let me hit you!" Bree whined.
"In your dreams!" I ran across the yard and picked up another ball and threw it her way.
I missed.
"Well then I must be sleeping 'cause," She threw a ball, it hit me, "You're down."
I glared at her and slid down the brick wall behind me.
"I am the champion!" Bree yelled and ran around the backyard.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Gretta said and got up, "Can we eat now? I'm starving."
I looked at my watch. "I guess we could grab a snack."We gathered up the balls and put them back in the shed.
I headed for the door then looked behind me. Gretta and Bree were exchanging mischievous glances."Miss Jackson!" They shouted and chased me up the stairs.
They kept singing the song and running behind me until we got to my door.
"You idiots." I laughed, out of breath. We located a general store and got a whole bunch of junk food and soda. We also bought some cool toys for fun challenges we wanted to do.
-----
Both Bree and Gretta lost within the first three minutes of the try not to laugh challenge that we did. We decided to watch the rest of the video without caring whether we lost or not, just to have some fun. Gretta made a comment to try and make me laugh. It worked. I burst out laughing, once I got my breath back I yelled, "How dare you!" Sarcastically.
It was almost 7 in the morning when we were done with the challenges. Then we watched a whole bunch of movies, Gretta fell asleep on me. I think that Bree was texting one of her work friends. I got up to grab some pillows for the three of us.
Bree and I fell asleep as soon as we laid down.
