“Ah! You’re finally here, Shirley!” Exclaimed a young boy.
A girl his age walked towards him with a lean man by her side.
“You say that as if I am late, Ren.” She said with an amused smile on her cute face.
Ren laughed sheepishly, “Sorry, I’m just so excited to see you.” He said while rubbing the side of his face.
Shirley only smiled at him, “Shall we go inside?” She asked while holding out her arm.
Ren returned to normal, “We shall.” He said, interlocking their arms together as they walked inside the building while Sebastian trailed behind them.
Renfred Armington, the son of Detective Kennard Armington. He’s a nice boy, never too loud unlike the rest of the children she had met, and he never bothered her about her life.
However, his father, Kennard Armington, is a very, very, dilettantish person. He’s a detective at profession, but not at mind. He had yet to successfully solve his two-digit case. He is that bad.
Which made her wonder why she even came here, or why she let Sebastian talk her to going here.
She doubts it has anything to do with stopping the murder that’s going to happen here sooner or later.~~•~~•~~
“Could you get serious for a moment, Inspector MacArthur? How long do you plan on withholding all my guests?” An old man sitting on a wheelchair asked angrily, “We don’t have any more time to be part of your futile investigation!” He continued to exclaim.
Shirley sighed tiredly, watching so-called detectives in the crime scene is making her feel old despite being a 5-years old child.
“Now, now, sir. The victim was a guest invited to your party President Winston of Winfield Bank! Please have a little more patience.” Inspector MacArthur said, trying to calm the man down.
“Are you insinuating that the one accountable is in this room?”
“No! It isn’t like that-! “
“Then why are we still here then?!”
Shirley took a deep breath through her nose before sighing. Seriously, with these people she’s not going to stay calm any longer.
“Sir, please stay calm.”
“I’m not going to stay calm until you all leave!”
‘I’m not going to stay calm either if all of you keep acting like idiots.’ Shirley thought as her eye twitched.
The two kept on bickering as the audience watched.
She felt a tap on her shoulder and looked at Sebastian who’s holding out a folder to her. She looked at the sealed folder for awhile before opening to see what it contains. After reading the file, her eyes widened in realization.
Shirley clicked her tongue, gaining the attention of Renfred.
“What’s that, Shirley?” He asked trying to get a look at the file.
Shirley returned the file in the folder before shaking her head, turning to look at him with a reassuring smile on her face.“No, it’s nothing. Just a little… clue, that’s all.” She said.
“So, you are implying that the criminal is in this room.”
“Precisely.”
They all turned to a young girl near the corner of the room.
Shirley mentally sighed, not believing that she let herself be indirectly swayed by Sebastian, “The door was locked from the inside. The killer entered from the next window over the 3rd floor and then left the same way.” She paused, letting them get the information be processed in their mind, “There were no footprints below the window, which points to the fact that this was an inside job.”
