Kouki Hollow is the students’ favorite teacher, he is a kind-hearted man who understand the feelings of the students he’s teaching and immediately notices if the children are in trouble, hurt, etc.

With that knowledge, he gets along very well with all the students.

Except…

As he, Kouki, played with the children during break-time, he noticed a green-eyed girl in the corner of the room reading.

Her…

He smiled at one boy who showed him a picture of him and the class that seemed to be lacking one student with a wide smile on his face.

His smile faltered for a moment before it returned to normal.

Once the boy went away, as did some of the students who focused on the building blocks, drawing, etc. His eyes once again searched for that dark-haired, green-eyed girl who’s now putting her book back to her bag.

The bell rang, and it took him time to notice the loud ringing sound before he went back to his place in the class.

The girl, Shirley Potter, is an extraordinary student. Always perfect in tests, good at sports and other school related activities. She’s star student of the school, all the teachers like her, but the students… not so much.

It’s not like they’re jealous of her... Or hate her for that matter... No, not like that! But there’s this feeling in his chest that the students aren’t even aware of her existence.

They don’t play with her, talk to her, or even look at her! They always look so confused when they see her name written above of the top students’ names. It’s like she doesn’t exist in their own personal world.

The bell rang once again, Kouki realized that it was the end of their class and dismissed the students.

He waved at the students cheerily waving goodbye to him as they run towards their parents and immediately looked for the green-eyed girl once they left.

But it was too late, once she got out of his sight, she disappeared.

The next morning, she didn’t attend his, or any other class for this matter.

The other teachers noticed that immediately, so they went to the Headmaster’s office to ask where the bright girl is.

The Headmaster, Mr. Kirkland, suddenly had a grim look on his face once they asked him.

“She’s in the hospital.” He said, his voice cracking as he does so.

Gasps were heard.

“What happened.” Kouki asked, worried for his student.

The headmaster turned to the window.

“Her house burned down. Her relatives are dead. She’s the only survivor.”

The headmaster took off his glasses before rubbing his eyes.

They knew that the headmaster was quite fond of the dark-haired girl. The girl always went to him whenever her relatives… got out of hand.

Deputy Headmaster, Alfred Jones, put his hand on Mr. Kirkland’s shoulder.

“We’ll visit her later, Iggy, you just have to be patient.” He said solemnly, because he too is close with Shirley.

After school, they walked towards Greenfield Hospital where they were told holds Shirley Potter.
They walked up to the front desk.

“We’re looking for one Shirley Potter.” Mr. Kirkland demanded.
