I spent hours trying to settle Toni last night. Her dad coming back really messed with her...A sun beam shone though the crack in the curtains. As I sat stroking my beautiful girls hair as she lay there, sound asleep on my chest, her head moving up and down as I breathed.
She stirred. "Mhm morning Cherry." Toni mumbled snuggling into me more then she already was.
Kissing her head I replied. "Good morning sleeping beauty." And I felt her smile, that made me happy. "How did you sleep in the end?"
"Umm not too bad, once I got to sleep! Helped to have you there." Toni shrugs. She does that whenever she feels awkward about being all soft.
I found it adorable.
"How was your sleeping?""It was good thank you." I lied, I didn't really sleep after Toni got off I was too worried about her. But she didn't need to know that.
"Liar." She chuckled adjusting herself unraveling from me to prop her head up with her elbow gazing at me.
She could always see right through me... damn it. "What's up?"I bit my; for once; unmanicured nails before looked up at her sighing. My eyes locked into hers and it hurt as I could still see the pain trapped inside. I would still see the tears that had stained her cheeks.
And unfortunately I knew that look all to well.
I knew a little of what she was going through. People say it helps to know, to relate but it doesn't. It hurts more because I know exactly how she feels! And I can't do anything to stop it or control it...
I finally just closed my eyes. "I was worried about you T... I...I want to make you stop feeling this way but I can't!" I gulp keeping my eyes shut trying to push down tears.
I felt a familiar warm hand caress my cheek and I pushed into it placing my hand ontop of hers.
Slowly opening my eyes.
I saw love. Yes I saw pain. Yes I saw the tear stained cheeks. But I also saw her love.Toni leaned gently pressing her lips to mine before resting our foreheads together.
"Sometimes people need to cry. Need to hurt. Okay?"
